Abstract: The feasibility of performing hydraulic fracturing can be assessed by analyzing the effect of skin on the overall deliverability of a reservoir. Aspects of the disclosure provide a method to determine equivalent skin in hydraulic fractured system through a semi analytical correlation obtained by numerical modeling. Two 3D models are considered: a base case without fracture and a complex case with fractures. The base case is simulated by varying matrix permeabilities while the fractured model is run with different sets of varying fracture's lengths, widths, and permeability as well as matrix permeabilities. The two cases are comparatively analyzed and skin is determined. A generalized correlation for determination of skin is derived through application of multivariate regression technique on obtained skins and their corresponding variables.

Abstract: A turbine stage includes a row of airfoils joined to corresponding platforms to define flow passages therebetween. Each airfoil includes opposite pressure and suction sides and extends in chord between opposite leading and trailing edges. Each platform has a contoured flow surface including a purge valley, an elevated bulge and a bowl. The purge valley has a maximum depth at an elevation equal to or greater than a nominal axisymmetric platform surface of the corresponding platform. The purge valley extending tangentially against a purge cavity wall and into the blend area and extending axially from proximate the leading edge of a first airfoil toward the suction side of the first airfoil, and toward the leading edge of a second adjacent airfoil to channel a purge flow. The elevated bulge adjoins the pressure side aft of the leading edge and the bowl adjoins the suction side aft of the leading edge.

Abstract: Systems and methods for cooling a rotor assembly disposed within a cavity of an expander fluidly coupled with a cooling source are provided. The system may include an annular body disposed on a rotor disc of the rotor assembly. The rotor disc may also include a plurality of rotor blades mounted thereto via respective roots. The annular body may define at least one fluid passageway fluidly coupling the roots and the cooling source. The annular ring may be configured to substantially prevent mixing of the flue gas with a coolant provided by the cooling source and flowing through the at least one fluid passageway and contacting at least one root. The system may also include a plurality of seal members, each disposed between respective platforms of adjacent rotor blades and configured to substantially prevent the flue gas flowing though the expander from mixing with the coolant.

Abstract: A gas turbine has at least one rotor and inner housing part to form an annular chamber therebetween. The annular chamber is fluidically connected to a compressor portion at one end and expansion turbine portion at the other, and is supplied with cooling fluid. First and second swirl supply lines supply the annular chamber with cooling fluid. The cooling fluid is supplied to the surface of the rotor with a tangential flow component, and a first seal element in the annular chamber acts as a flow resistor. A discharge line in the rotor between the first seal element and expansion turbine portion receives and discharges cooling fluid from the second swirl supply line. No bypass lines are provided from the first swirl supply line such that the cooling fluid is conducted around the second swirl supply line in order to be returned to a location of the annular chamber.
