Abstract: Modifying a tether linked to a cursor based on depth volatility of the cursor is disclosed. Multiple displays show a three-dimensional image that seems to be at the same real world location regardless of the location of the display. One person operates a cursor in the three-dimensional image. Volatility of depth of the cursor from the viewpoint of the cursor operator is tracked. The appearance of the tether is changed in other displays in response to the depth volatility. The tether may include a line from the cursor towards the cursor operator. The tether is not necessarily displayed all of the time so as to not obscure the view of the three-dimensional image. When there is not any depth volatility for some time, the tether is not displayed. In response to high depth volatility, the tether may be displayed as a long line from the cursor.

Abstract: Embodiments are related to user input devices that accept complex user input including a combination of touch and push (or pick) input. Embodiments of the invention provide for selective ignoring or rejection of input received from such devices in order to avoid interpreting unintentional user actions as commands. Furthermore, some input signals can be modified. The selective rejection or modification can be performed by the user interface device itself or by a computing device that includes or is attached to the user interface device. The selective rejection or modification may be performed by a module that processes input signals, performs the necessary rejections and modifications and sends revised input signals to higher level modules.

Abstract: A mobile phone is provided which includes a liquid crystal display device in which a front window and a touch panel are bonded together with an adhesive sheet, wherein a logo having plural layers is formed on a back side of the front window. A touch-panel flexible wiring substrate is mounted to the touch panel. A plane distance between an end portion of the plural layers of the logo and an end portion of the touch panel is set to greater than zero. With this configuration, it is possible to prevent a peeling stress on the adhesive sheet, even if a thickness of the adhesive sheet is smaller than the sum of a thickness of the touch-panel flexible wiring substrate and a thickness of the logo.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a three-dimensional touch recognition apparatus and a three-dimensional touch recognition method. The three-dimensional touch recognition apparatus may include a first sensor unit configured to detect a touch, a second sensor unit vertically spaced apart from the first sensor unit and configured to measure a touch force applied from the outside when the touch is detected at a plurality of measurement sites. The apparatus may also include a control device configured to calculate a distance between a first touch location measured by the first sensor unit and a second touch location measured by the second sensor unit and to verify whether the calculated distance between the first touch location and the second touch location exceeds a threshold value to recognize a touch input.

Abstract: ForcePhone is a novel system for enabling phones to recognize the force applied to their touchscreen and/or body. ForcePhone uses built-in sensors to measure the applied force via a physical property called structure-borne sound propagation. The phone plays an inaudible sound through the phone's speaker. When the phone is free to vibrate, the sound from the speaker easily travels through its body to the phone's microphone. When a force is applied to the phone, vibration is restricted and the sound traveling through the pathway is degraded. ForcePhone estimate the amount of applied force by monitoring the change in sound degradation.

Abstract: A method. The method may include obtaining force information regarding an input force applied by an input object to a sensing region of an input device. The method may include determining, using the force information, that the input force exceeds a first force threshold. The method may include determining, using the force information, whether the input force exceeds a second force threshold. The method may include obtaining positional information for an input object in the sensing region of the input device. The method may include determining, using the positional information, that a change in position of the input object is less than a distance threshold when the input force exceeds the second force threshold. The method may include performing an interface action within a graphical user interface in response to determining that the input force decreases below at least the second force threshold.
