Patent number: 9739583Abstract: A fragmentation munition has a fragmentation canister containing preformed fragments, and an explosive cartridge that fits into a central hole in the fragmentation canister. The explosive cartridge includes an outer shell, and an explosive within the outer shell. The munition may be configured to precisely deliver fragments to a relatively small area, such as an area that is a few meters in radius. Toward that end the explosive may be configured primarily to rupture the housing and secondarily to spread fragments over a limited area. The main kinetic energy of the fragments is from the acceleration they gain as part of the munition falls from a launcher, such as a carrier aircraft. The dispersed fragments may have a similar downward velocity after controlled dispersal by the explosive, allowing them considerable kinetic energy (considerable penetrating power), but with a precisely controlled dispersal area.Type: GrantFiled: August 7, 2014Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: Raytheon CompanyInventors: Keith A Kerns, John J Spilotro, Brandon J Cundiff, Thomas H Bootes, Jason M Shire

Patent number: 9739585Abstract: A projectile includes a component that is highly reflective and configured to reveal the projectile's trajectory when the projectile is fired from a gun and electromagnetic radiation is directed toward the projectile. With the reflective component, one can more easily limit the visibility of the projectile to areas from where the projectile was fired because the reflective component is passive, not active. As the projectile moves down range, the areas behind the projectile are typically where a shooter and/or spotter for the shooter are located, not where an enemy combatant is located. Thus, the trajectory of the projectile is revealed to the people who can use the information to adjust their fire, and remains hidden from the people who could use the information to locate the shooter.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2013Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Inventors: Thomas J Nugent, Jr., Elizabeth Nugent, Nicholas R Burrows, Carsten Erickson, David J Bashford

Patent number: 9739625Abstract: An information processing apparatus for operating a vehicle, when the vehicle is running, and an application is instructed through voice. An in-running operation acceptance/denial list is produced, i.e., a list of words meaning an operation to be inhibited from being executed during the time when the vehicle is running. A command acceptance/denial executing portion of the onboard apparatus determines if the command corresponding to the content, which a user speaks, can be operated or not, during the time when the vehicle is running, by referring this list and a title of the command operable through voices included in the application, and when the vehicle is running, an execution of that command is instructed to an application controller portion, if being determined operable, by referring to a running condition of the vehicle, and if being determined inoperable, the execution of that command is not instructed to the application controller portion.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2016Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: CLARION CO., LTD.Inventors: Takaaki Sekiguchi, Naoki Mori, Atsushi Shimizu

Patent number: 9739626Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for generating journey options in response to a journey request from an origin to a destination. Routes from the origin to the destination are selected as candidates to fulfill the journey request. Delay-related statistical information is derived from delay-related data for past journeys. A minimum connecting time at a connection between first and second segments of each route is estimated based on the statistical information. Journey combinations are determined from the routes based on origin departure time, destination arrival time, and schedule information for the first and second segments of each route. For each route in each journey combination, a determination is made whether the schedule information for the first and second segments satisfies a condition related to the minimum connecting time. Each journey combination for which the condition is satisfied by each route comprising the journey combination is selected as a journey option.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2014Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: AMADEUS S.A.S.Inventors: Cedric Lamoriniere, David Benque

Patent number: 9739627Abstract: A system for determining a road frustration index value may include a vehicle and/or a computing device associated with a user travelling within the vehicle. A telematics system associated with the vehicle may include a sensor to sense a speed of the vehicle. The computing device may receive, from the vehicle telematics device, speed information representative of a current vehicle speed and may receive, from a mobile location detection unit, information identifying a road class associated with each of a plurality of road segments of a route. The computing device may then calculate, in near real-time and based on the speed information and the road class, a first frustration level value associated with the driver of the vehicle and identify, based on whether the first frustration level value meets a criterion, an alternate route segment having second frustration level value predicted to be less than the first frustration level value.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2016Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: Allstate Insurance CompanyInventor: Sunil Chintakindi

Patent number: 9739628Abstract: Intersection guide systems, methods, and programs acquire information on a path of a vehicle and acquire a travel direction of the vehicle at a guide intersection ahead of the vehicle on the basis of the information on the path. The systems, methods, and programs display a guide image that represents the travel direction superimposed on a portion of a forward scene ahead of the vehicle other than an image of the guide intersection, and a connection line image as superimposed on the forward scene, the connection line image connecting between the image of the guide intersection in the forward scene and the guide image. The connection line image is superimposed on the forward scene such that a length of the connection line image becomes shorter as a degree of approach of the vehicle to the guide intersection becomes larger.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2013Date of Patent: August 22, 2017Assignee: AISIN AW CO., LTDInventors: Ken Ishikawa, Kosei Mino, Yoshito Kondo, Saki Osoko, Yumie Arai
