Abstract: A transparency evaluation device includes a skin index calculation unit that calculates at least one of a luminance component in a captured image obtained by photographing a skin, a color component in the captured image, and an amount of generation of negative factors in which the luminance component or the color component in the captured image changes locally, as a first index, obtains at least one of an intensity distribution of the luminance component and an intensity distribution of the color component in the captured image, and calculates at least one of smoothness of a change in the luminance component and smoothness of a change in the color component as a second index based on the intensity distributions, and a transparency evaluation unit that evaluates transparency of the skin based on an overall index in which the first index and the second index are combined.

Abstract: A hair stylist device comprises a top and bottom board, each having a plurality of opposed bristles for retaining strands of bulk artificial or commercial hair therebetween for performing hairstyling operations, and including a hinge mechanism for opening and closing the boards around the bulk hair retaining it loosely but securely, while allowing the removal of strands of bulk hair without opening the device providing optimal gripping ability to the bulk hair while permitting removal of hair without unnecessary loss. The board inner surfaces each may have a generally planar pad with plural embedded bristles extending in a direction perpendicular to one surface of the pad. A longitudinal hinge connects the two boards to each other and a lock can secure the opposite longitudinal ends to each other. Compartments disposed at a surface of the boards provide storage for any necessary accessories required for the braiding or weaving process.

Abstract: An adjustable-length tensile member, for example, a strap for a wearable pack, can include a fastener member defining first and second apertures and a cross-member positioned therebetween. A strap can extend through the first aperture in a first direction, over the cross-member and through the second aperture in a direction opposite to the first direction. A cover plate can matingly engage with the fastener member to obscure a segment of the strap from view. Wearable packs can incorporate such adjustable-length tensile members. Methods for assembling such adjustable-length tensile members are also disclosed.

Abstract: A multiple-look support strap is adapted for hanging one end of a hammock from a fixed structure. The support strap cooperates with a like strap to hang an opposite end of the hammock from a second fixed structure spaced apart from the first. The support strap comprises an elongated length of flexible strap folded upon itself to form first and second overlying strap sections. The strap sections are integrally joined together at a first end of the support strap, and a least one of the first and second strap sections terminates at an opposite second end of the support strap. A plurality of strap loops are formed with the first and second strap sections between opposite ends of the support strap.

The card extraction apparatus has an affixing element to affix the card to the card extraction apparatus and further has a tab member which a user may grip to apply an extracting force.

Abstract: An integrated modular attachment system for releasably attaching an object to a garment. The garment may include one or more loops. The object includes a base member, a foldable flap attached to the base member, a first wing member extending from a first side of the base member and a second wing member extending from a second side of the base member. To secure the object to the garment, the foldable flap is arranged in downward position and inserted through at least one of the loops of the garment. The first wing member is folded into a position which overlaps a portion of the foldable flap and is removably secured to the foldable flap. The second wing member is then folded over to overlap the first wing member and is removably secured to at least the first wing member.

The mobile electronic device holding arm is designed to fasten around a user's torso and support a mobile electronic device in a position that it can be viewed and used by the user without the user having to use their hands to support the device.

Abstract: A wearable belt clip includes a keeper which receives a golf club and is removably attachable to the golfer's belt. The keeper positions the shaft of the golf club so it does not impede the golfer's movements, such as swinging a club or walking. The belt clip allows the golfer to conveniently carry a second golf club without the concern of misplacing it during play. In an embodiment, a keeper channel positions the club head above the keeper with the shaft extending below the keeper. In front view, the keeper channel is substantially parallel to the belt clip longitudinal axis, so that the golf club is held in a substantially vertical orientation. In side view, the keeper channel is angled with respect to the belt channel, so that the head of the golf club is angled away from the wearer, for improved comfort and maneuverability.

Connectors, expansion slots, networking capabilities, and other storage units are provided within the furniture components enabling several electronic devices to be installed within the furniture components and communicate with each other, integrating a fully functional computer system into a classroom or office desk. The disclosed modular furniture systems provide multiple resources and functions in a small footprint and are useable in a variety of school, personal and work settings.

Abstract: This invention provides protection from mosquitoes for an individual lying on a bed. An articulated frame supports mosquito netting over the exposed flesh of the individual. The articulated frame is easily deployed and retracted by the individual while lying on the bed. In the retracted position the bed is fully accessible for making-up or changing the bedding.

The lift mechanism is configured to allow rotational movement to be imparted to the seat while the seat is undergoing vertical movement.

In the first position, a concave face of the support device can be contoured to interface with torso/buttocks of an infant. In the second position, the support device can be folded together providing an area suitable for an infant.

An end panel is pivotally attached to either of the first and second ends of the bag platform. A latching mechanism maintains the end panel in a first, upright position. The latching mechanism is magnetic or includes loop and eye fittings. The dispenser may also have a pivoting side panel.

Abstract: I disclose a frameless display apparatus for flat or essentially flat artwork. The apparatus comprises a transparent envelope with flaps to fold around the edges of the flat artwork. Four perpendicular pairs of rods meet at a hub to create a T-shaped cross brace. Clips on the terminal ends of each pair of rods couple to the edges of the enclosed artwork to stabilize the artwork from twisting in place. The artwork and cross brace rest directly in a wall mount, or spaced forward of the wall with one or more interlocking forward extension elements.

Abstract: A food receptacle (12), such as a child's food bowl, which can be secured to a flat surface by a suction base unit (10) is described. The suction base unit (10) is of low-profile and is adapted to be attached to a flat surface by a vacuum formed between a suction pad (14) in the suction base unit (10) and the flat surface. The food bowl (12) has a base (16) with a rim (18) adapted to rest on the flat surface to support the bowl (12) on the surface. The base (16) has a recess (20) adapted to receive the suction base unit (10) therein. Because the suction base unit (10) is of low profile it can be wholly contained within the base (16) of the bowl. A securing mechanism (22) is provided for releasably securing the suction base unit (10) within the base (16) of the food receptacle (12). In use, when the suction base unit (10) is attached to a flat surface and the receptacle (12) is secured thereto the rim (18) of the receptacle base (16) presses against the flat surface and supports the receptacle thereon.

The odorant may be delivered orthonasally or retronasally. The odorant may be used to stimulate or suppress appetite. In an aspect, a controllable odorant emitter is provided in an attachment that may be removably secured to an eating utensil. Related methods and systems for delivering odorant in connection with use of an eating utensil are described.

Abstract: A zipper pulling device for allowing a user to more easily zip up a dress or other similar garment. The zipper pulling device includes a rod having a first end and a second end, wherein the rod is telescopic such that it can be extended or retracted to a desired length. The first end comprises a magnet thereon that can be used to engage a metal zipper. The second end of the rod includes a hook thereon, wherein the user can alternately use the hook to engage the zipper. In this way, the user can grasp an end of the rod and pull the rod upward so that the hook or magnet temporarily engaged with the zipper pulls along the teeth of the zipper, allowing a user to more easily zip up a dress.

Abstract: A mat comprises a profile bar, a metal strip with a high coefficient of friction, a U-clip, and a rivet rod is disclosed. The profile bar includes a head with a flat surface and a post including a hole. The metal strip includes a surface with a high coefficient of friction, and a plurality of posts opposite the surface with the high coefficient of friction, wherein the plurality of posts includes a hole. The rivet rod fits through the hole in the post of the profile bar and the hole of the plurality of posts of the metal strip. The U-clip includes notches, and the post of the profile bar rests in one of the notches while the plurality of posts of the metal strip rests in several of the notices. The rivet rod extends through the holes to couple the profile bar and the metal strip to the U-clip.

The holders include a series of sections, particularly, holding sections having different geometrical structures related to the different items intended to be hold. In this manner, they may be assembled at the convenience of the user and its holding units may be increased or decreased as well as selected based upon the particular structure of the holding units at the will of the users. The holder may be self-standing when using a disclosed base or alternatively, it may be secured to a commonly used toothbrush supporting base or even be supported via a suction cup over a given surface.

A flexible elongate scraping member is rotatably connected to the conveying element by its first end and extends in the longitudinal direction from the conveying element into the dispensing duct. The scraping member, which may be configured to be helical, prevents pulverulent material from sticking against the inner wall, while ensuring good conveying and metering action.

Abstract: One embodiment of a device used for Coffee Cupping in which coffee grounds, tea or other sediment to be extracted are mixed with a liquid in a vessel with a narrow section 24 between an upper chamber 20 and a lower chamber 26. After the sediment has settled in the lower chamber, a stopper 28 (attached to a rod 30, and a handle 32) is inserted into the narrow section 24 thereby sealing off the lower chamber 26 and allowing the now sediment-free liquid in the upper chamber 20 to be poured out using the pouring spout 22, into another vessel for tasting. Alternative embodiments are described and shown.

Abstract: A cartridge for forming a beverage includes a container defining an interior space, a filter, a beverage medium contained in the interior space, and a filter guard. The filter may be arranged so that liquid that interacts with the beverage medium flows through the filter to exit the interior space. The container may include a surface arranged to be pierced by a piercing member to permit beverage to exit the container. The filter guard may be arranged to contact the piercing member to resist damage to the filter when the container surface is pierced. In one embodiment, the filter guard and filter may be in contact with the container surface that is pierced, yet damage to the filter that might be caused by the piercing element may be avoided.

One example provides a cooler including a body, a lid movably coupled to the body, a recess formed in the body, a securing structure extending around at least a portion of the recess thereby forming a first lock receptacle, a second lock receptacle formed in the lid and positioned to align over the first lock receptacle when the lid is in a closed position, and a gap located between the securing structure and the lid, the gap being configured to accommodate a locking device when the lid is in the closed position.

Abstract: Hitherto, when securing splash guards, same have been secured by means of a securing device on the inside of the bowl of the sink, but this has been inconvenient in that securing the bottom edge of the splash guard to the top edge of the sink rim been ensured through the use of two-sided tape or suckers or the like, and, since the inside of the bowl is very wet, a substantial amount of grime and bacteria and the like occurs on the securing device of the splash guard which is on the inside of the bowl, and, additionally, water seeps in between when a splash guard has been secured to the top edge of the sink rim, such that the article frequently drops off and does not stick well.
