Abstract: A method of assembling a pump for use in a radioactive environment includes positioning tubing between a rotor and a clamp of the pump. The pump includes a pump head that includes a casing, the rotor, and the clamp. The rotor rotates in relation to the casing. The method also includes rotating the rotor for a first period to compress the tubing against the rotor. The tubing is in a dry condition throughout the first period. The method further includes directing liquid into the tubing and rotating the rotor for a second period to compress the tubing against the rotor and direct the liquid through the pump head. The method also includes calibrating the pump.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a piston pump (10) which is driven by means of a coil (1) of an electromagnet. A piston (2) of the piston pump (10) can be moved in a cylinder (3) for pumping purposes by means of the electromagnet. A voltage (U) is applied to the coil (1) during a switch-on period such that a current flows through the coil (1) and the piston (2) is accelerated, said voltage being applied by means of an actuation device (11). A time curve of an electric state variable (I, U) of the coil (1) is qualitatively detected, and the curve or a curve derived therefrom is analyzed in order to detect an impact of the piston (2) against a stop. The invention further relates to an actuation device and a piston pump.

Abstract: A method and device for retrofitting a gas turbine engine for improved hot day performance are disclosed. The method can include removing a first selected stator bladerow from the plurality of compressor stages, the first selected stator bladerow having a first inlet swirl angle and including a first plurality of fixed stator vanes. Each stator vane of the first plurality of fixed stator vanes can have a first stator vane angle. The method can also include providing a first improved stator bladerow to replace the first selected stator bladerow. The first improved stator bladerow can have a second plurality of fixed stator vanes, each having a second stator vane angle smaller than the first stator vane angle. The method can also include replacing the first selected stator bladerow with the first improved stator bladerow to produce an increased pressure ratio and flow rate compared to the first selected stator bladerow.
