Abstract: A computer implemented system and method of sharing files between a link sharer and a link recipient over a network. The method comprises generating, in response to a request by a link sharer, a file sharing link to a file set, where the link does not provide a link recipient the ability to modify the contents of the linked file set. In response to receiving an indication that the generated link has been activated by a link recipient, displaying a representation of the linked file set with a display element configured to send a request for modification rights to the linked file set when activated by the link recipient. In response to receiving the request for modification rights, either automatically granting modification rights to the linked file set or sending notice to the link sharer indicating that the link recipient is requesting modification rights to the linked file set.

  • Patent number: 9881186
Abstract: RFID readers may be configured to recover weak RFID tag signals from collisions with stronger RFID tag signals. An RFID reader may receive a combined tag response including a strong tag response and a weak tag response. The reader recovers the strong and weak tag responses using source separation. In one example, the reader may recover the strong tag response from the combined tag response and remove the recovered tag response from the combined tag response to form a modified tag response. The reader may then recover the weak tag response from the modified tag response.

  • Patent number: 9881188
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for providing an audible feedback based on a proximity or a link quality between an external reader and a tag. The external reader transmits power to the tag with a radio frequency electromagnetic signal. The tag may rectify the radio frequency electromagnetic signal and create a rectified voltage. This rectified voltage may be used to power various components of the tag. Once it receives power from the reader, the tag may communicate information back to the external reader. The information communicated back to the reader is communicated by modulating an antenna impedance of the tag. By modulating the impedance, the tag will backscatter radiation transmitted by the reader. The reader is able to create an audio output based on determining the proximity or link quality from the reader to the tag based on the backscatter radiation it receives from the tag.

  • Patent number: 9881189
Abstract: In certain embodiments of surface material enhancement with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, one or more RFID pressure assemblies are incorporated into a surface material. An RFID pressure assembly includes a pressure switch and an RFID tag. The RFID tag can be in an inactive state or in an active state. The RFID tag is generally in the inactive state, but the RFID tag is placed in the active state if a person applies pressure to the pressure switch. If the RFID tag is in the inactive state, the RFID tag fails to respond to an interrogation signal transmitted from an RFID reader. If the RFID tag is in the active state, the RFID tag responds to an interrogation signal by reflecting back a responsive signal. The responsive signal sent from the RFID tag may include a positional indicator of the RFID pressure assembly or an appliance control command.

Another category specifying characteristics of a background color of the license plate is determined. Based on the other category, the characteristics of the objects in the image do not match the characteristics of the background color. Based on the characteristics of the objects in the image not matching the characteristics of the background color of the license plate, the image is determined to not include an identifiable license plate. Responsive to determining the image does not include the identifiable license plate, the image is determined to be invalid and a manual character recognition process for determining identifiers in license plates is bypassed.

Abstract: Systems and methods for scalable comparisons between two pixel maps are provided. In an embodiment, an agricultural intelligence computer system generates pixel maps from non-image data by transforming a plurality of values and location values into pixel values and pixel locations. The non-image data may include data relating to a particular agricultural field, such as nutrient content in the soil, pH values, soil moisture, elevation, temperature, and/or measured crop yields. The agricultural intelligence computer system converts each pixel map into a vector of values. The agricultural intelligence computer system also generates a matrix of metric coefficients where each value in the matrix of metric coefficients is computed using a spatial distance between to pixel locations in one of the pixel maps. Using the vectors of values and the matrix of metric coefficients, the agricultural intelligence computer system generates a difference metric identifying a difference between the two pixel maps.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting an interest degree of a crowd in a target position are disclosed. The interest degree detection method includes projecting a depth image obtained by photographing onto a height-top-view, the depth image including the crowd and the target position; dividing the height-top-view into cells; determining density of the crowd in each cell; determining a moving speed and a moving direction of the crowd in each cell; determining orientation of the crowd in each cell; and determining, based on the density, the moving speed, the moving direction and the orientation of the crowd, the interest degree of the crowd in each cell in the target position. According to this method, the interest degree of the crowd in the target position can be detected accurately, even at a crowded place where it is difficult to detect and track a single person.

  • Patent number: 9881219
Abstract: A controller for an autonomous vehicle receives an image stream from one or more imaging devices. The controller identifies vehicle images in the image stream. Vehicle images are compared to the color, shape, badging, markings, license plate, and driver of the autonomous vehicle. If the vehicle image is determined to match the autonomous vehicle, then the vehicle image is ignored as a potential obstacle. The location of a reflective surface that generated the vehicle image may be determined and added to a set of potential obstacles. The color and shape of a vehicle in a vehicle image may be evaluated first. Only if the color and shape in the vehicle image match the autonomous vehicle are other factors such as badging, markings, license plate, and driver considered. Vehicle images not matching the autonomous vehicle are included in a set of potential obstacles.

Abstract: A vehicle vision system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and having a field of view forwardly of the vehicle, and a control having an image processor. The control is operable to receive wireless communication that is associated with a traffic light ahead of the vehicle, with the wireless communication including a communicated status of the traffic light. The image processor, responsive to processing of captured image data, is operable to determine an imaged status of the traffic light. The control compares the imaged status with the communicated status and, when they correspond, confirms the status of the traffic light ahead of the vehicle. Responsive to a determination that the driver of the vehicle is not properly responding to the confirmed traffic light status, the system generate an alert to the driver of the vehicle and/or applies the brakes of the vehicle.

Abstract: Methods and systems for continuously monitoring the gaze direction of a driver of a vehicle over time. Video is received, which is captured by a camera associated with, for example, a mobile device within a vehicle, the camera and/or mobile device mounted facing the driver of the vehicle. Frames can then be extracted from the video. A facial region can then be detected, which corresponds to the face of the driver within the extracted frames. Features descriptors can then be computed from the facial region. A gaze classifier derived from the vehicle, the driver, and the camera can then be applied, wherein the gaze classifier receives the feature descriptors as inputs and outputs at least one label corresponding to one or more predefined finite number of gaze classes to identify the gaze direction of the driver of the vehicle.

Abstract: A “Stroke Untangler” composes handwritten messages from handwritten strokes representing overlapping letters or partial letter segments are drawn on a touchscreen device or touch-sensitive surface. These overlapping strokes are automatically untangled and then segmented and combined into one or more letters, words, or phrases. Advantageously, segmentation and composition is performed without requiring user gestures, timeouts, or other inputs to delimit characters within words, and without using handwriting recognition-based techniques to guide untangling and composing of the overlapping strokes to form characters. In other words, the user draws multiple overlapping strokes. Those strokes are then automatically segmented and combined into one or more corresponding characters. Text recognition of the resulting characters is then performed. Further, the segmentation and combination is performed in real-time, thereby enabling real-time rendering of the resulting characters in a user interface window.
