  • Patent number: 9918452
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for controlling the location in which herbivore fowl populations congregate by altering the behavior of the fowl through the combination of providing a strong disincentive to populate areas where the presence of the fowl is not desired and a strong incentive to populate a proximate area where the presence of fowl can be tolerated. For herbivore waterfowl, and in particular Canada geese, the adjacent area also provides the waterfowl with a means of egress to water as an escape from predators and other perceived threats. The method uses a deterrent in the form of adulterated feed to dissuade the herbivore fowl from congregating in areas in which their presence is not desired and the use of an attractant in the form of non-adulterated feed to encourage the herbivore fowl to congregate in a proximate area in which their presence can be tolerated.

  • Patent number: 9918478
Abstract: This invention is about a water soluble antimicrobial polyacrylate silver salt. The molecular chain of the polyacrylate silver salt comprises sodium carboxylic group (—COONa) and silver carboxylic group (—COOAg). It is synthesized by dissolving an polyacrylate polymer comprising sodium carboxylic group (—COONa) in water and then exchanging the sodium carboxylic group of the polyacrylate polymer to silver carboxylic group (—COOAg) using silver salt in aqueous solution. Ultrafiltration membrane is used to remove the sodium salt generated from the metal ion exchanging procedure. An aqueous solution of water soluble antimicrobial polyacrylate silver salt with very few impurity is obtained. The water soluble antimicrobial polyacrylate silver salt is then obtain-ned from the aqueous solution. The molar ratio of —COOAg to —COONa of thus obtained water soluble antimicrobial polyacrylate silver salt can be as high as 66/34.

  • Patent number: 9918482
Abstract: A ball-shaped food forming machine includes a casing, a pair of sheet-forming rollers, a sheet guide, a cutter roller, a cutter blade, a first ball-forming roller and a second ball-forming roller. The casing includes a receiving chamber. The sheet-forming rollers define a sheet-forming gap therebetween. The sheet guide has a cutting end. The cutter blade is disposed on the cutter roller and rotate along with the cutter roller. When the cutter blade rotated to a first position, a distal end of the cutter blade is right adjacent to the cutting end of the sheet guide. The first and second ball-forming rollers define a plurality of ball-forming gaps therebetween. The first ball-forming roller is closer to the cutter blade than the second ball-forming roller. Thereby, a food slug can be efficiently formed into ball-shaped food.

  • Patent number: 9918486
Abstract: The invention provides novel food compositions having a realistic meat-like appearance, feel, and texture. The compositions comprise from about 40 to about 90% functional proteins, from about 0.05 to about 2% of one or more cross-linking agents, and from about 60 to about 10% of a meat slurry, wherein the meat slurry comprises meat and one or more humectants plasticizers in a meat:humectant plasticizer ratio of from about 20:80 to about 80:20. The compositions are produced by heating a preconditioned mixture of the food components under pressure and then expanding the heated composition to form the food composition.

  • Patent number: 9918487
Abstract: A method of making a gel-type livestock feed includes initially forming a feed mixture by mixing feed nutrient components, water, alginate, and a calcium component insoluble in water or a sequestrate to inhibit the calcium component from reacting with the alginate. Once the feed mixture is formed, the calcium component is solubilized or the sequestrates affecting the reactivity between the alginate and the calcium component is removed such that a gel feed is formed that includes a gel matrix containing the feed nutrient components. The gel feed may then be fed to the livestock. In another aspect of the present invention, piglets are weaned by feeding the gel feed for at least seven days directly after weaning. The gel feed may also include protein derived from blood with or without egg protein.
