  • Patent number: 9919807
Abstract: A bladder external to a fuel tank of a vehicle that allows an operational range of the vehicle to be increased. Preferably the bladder is external to the rest of the vehicle and the vehicle is an aircraft. The external bladder allows fuel in the fuel tank to expand and contract without requiring additional space within the vehicle, thus allowing more fuel mass to be held by the vehicle and a smaller vehicle profile that is more aerodynamically efficient. More preferably, the bladder is disconnectable from the rest of the vehicle to allow increasing of aerodynamic efficiency and weight reduction during use.

  • Patent number: 9919808
Abstract: A fuel delivery system is provided for filling a fuel tank with a prescribed volume of fuel. The delivery system includes a fuel tank, a piezoelectrically-actuated fill control valve for controlling flow of fuel into the fuel tank, and a controller for controlling the closure rate of the fill control valve to accurately control the volume of fuel provided to the fuel tank. The controller receives an input corresponding to a measured volume of flow through the system and allows for closure of the fill valve at variable closure rates. The fill control valve is piezoelectrically-actuated and controlled by the controller such that each successive variable closure rate is relatively slower than the previous closure rate. In this way impact loads from shutting off the fill control valve are minimized to achieve a fill volume as close as possible to the prescribed volume.

  • Patent number: 9919812
Abstract: A system and method for monitoring a critical component (e.g., an electrical deicing heater) on an aircraft. A first electrical current is input into the critical component, a second electrical current is returned from the critical component, and an electrical differential current of the critical component is detected. The electrical differential current is the difference between the first electrical current and the second electrical current. An electrical differential current signal is generated from the detected electrical differential current. The electrical differential current signal is compared to a differential current threshold, and precautionary action is triggered based on the comparison. A deterioration trend of the critical component is monitored by tracking variations in the electrical differential current of the critical component over time.

  • Patent number: 9919836
Abstract: A product dispensing system and a method of queuing usage of products. In one form, a plurality of layers of products, each having multiple items in separate packages, is provided, each layer having a carrier with the separate packages being secured to and extending from the carrier. The layers are assembled in a stacked orientation behind a front layer with layers behind the front layer being at least partially concealed and inaccessible. Products are used one layer at a time, and when the separate packages from the front layer are removed, the packages of the next-succeeding layer are exposed for use. In another form of the invention, the packages for each layer are secured to and extend in series from the carrier for each layer, with a first package secured to the carrier for the layer, and each succeeding package being secured to the next preceding package.

  • Patent number: 9919841
Abstract: The invention is an integrally blow-moulded bag-in-container and preform for making it. The bag-in-container has an inner layer forming the bag and an outer layer forming the container, and a mouth fluidly connecting the volume defined by the bag to the atmosphere. The container further has at least one interface vent fluidly connecting the interface between inner and outer layers to the atmosphere, wherein the at least one vent runs parallel to the interface between inner and outer layers and opens to the atmosphere at a location adjacent to, and oriented coaxially with the bag-in-container's mouth. Processes for manufacturing a preform and a bag-in-container as defined above are defined too.

Abstract: A food holding device includes a receptacle member having a body and a surrounding wall for containing food. A flexible strap is attached to the receptacle member. One end of the strap is connectible to secure the receptacle around an object (e.g., a thigh of a child). The flexible strap has ends that are configured for releasable connection (e.g., using hook and loop material). The ends can overlappingly connect to secure the receptacle to the child. The strap can be attached to the receptacle member in a number of ways, and may be removable. A liner and/or a closure device (e.g., lid or drawstring) may be used with the device. The receptacle member can receive and hold a container or a pre-packaged item. The receptacle member can be a pre-packaged item itself with an attached or attachable strap. One or more parts of the device can be disposable and/or reusable.

  • Patent number: 9919844
Abstract: A bag has a tubular edge portion defining an open end, the edge portion being defined by two elongate parts. Adhesive is disposed upon one of the parts and is adapted to grip the other of the parts. A strip extends from the open end to a terminus disposed interiorly of the bag, is adhesively secured to the one part in overlying relation to the adhesive and has apertures thereby defining areas of exposed adhesive. A lip has a release portion that extends from the terminus and is frangibly connected thereto, the release portion being disposed in overlying relation to the strip, to isolate the other of the parts from the areas of exposed adhesive and has an adhesive resistant surface to permit the lip to be detached via the frangible connection, thereby to permit closure by adhesion of said other of the parts to the areas of exposed adhesive.
