Patent number: 9996762Abstract: An image processing apparatus performs an image recognition process, such as pattern matching or contour detection, on image data supplied from an image pickup device, and stores history data of the image recognition process in an external storage apparatus. In this case, an extraction image is extracted from an extraction region determined in accordance with the image recognition process performed on the input image data and is stored in the external storage device as history data. Furthermore, the history data logged in the external storage device may include a compressed image that is obtained by compressing, using lossy compression, the entire image data subjected to the image processing performed by the image processing apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2015Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Canon Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Genki Cho, Toshihiko Mimura

Patent number: 9996763Abstract: A computer-implemented method executes instructions for receiving or retrieving image files. A first image file corresponds to both a scaling article image having one or more known dimension(s) and to a target article image submitted by a consumer or a vendor. Contours are determined for each article image to obtain one or more pixel dimension(s) for each article image. The pixel dimension(s) for the scaling article image are related to its known dimension(s) to obtain scaled pixel dimensions for the target article image. A consumer profile is generated which includes at least one of a set of curves that represent the determined contours and a set of control points, measure lines and control lines to represent the measurement of the reference article. Access to the profile facilitates creation of new articles for the consumer and/or assessment of how an article having a similarly derived profile will fit.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 2015Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Inventor: Xiaofeng Han

Patent number: 9996764Abstract: An image matching method based on cascaded binary encoding includes using a hashing look-up with multiple hashing tables to coarsely filter candidate key-points in an image to produce a candidate subset of key-points, projecting the candidate subset into a high-dimensional Hamming space, and building a “Hamming distance-memory address” hashing table. An optimal matching key-point is discovered by querying the hashing table. The image matching method has high processing speed and matching quality, which can be used for efficient and accurate image matching.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2014Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Institute of Automation Chinese Academy of SciencesInventors: Jian Cheng, Cong Leng, Jiaxiang Wu, Hanqing Lu

Patent number: 9996765Abstract: A method performed by an electronic device includes storing a correlation between spectral data values and mix ratio values of components of a mixture. Spectral data is acquired from a coating, of the mixture, that is applied to a substrate. A mix ratio, of the components that are in the coating, is determined from the acquired spectral data based on the stored correlation.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2017Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: THE SHERWIN-WILLIAMS COMPANYInventor: Michael Paul Yajko

Patent number: 9996766Abstract: Imaging-based methods for detecting defects in an extruded cellular ceramic article having a web array are disclosed. The methods may include capturing a digital image of the web array to establish an intensity-based initial web array representation. The methods also may include performing an intensity threshold process on the initial web array representation to define an intensity-based high-resolution web array representation having sub-pixel resolution, and performing piecewise cubic spline fits to define corresponding web skeletons. The method may also include comparing intensities of the high-resolution web array representation along the web skeletons to a threshold intensity to determine the defect locations and sizes. The methods can be applied to determining the size and location of skin defects as well.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2016Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: Corning IncorporatedInventors: DiRisio Carlo Richard, Frey Julie Charmaine, Gehl Kristine Sluder, Russell Wayne Madara, Hak Chuah Sim, Yeqing Zhang

Patent number: 9996768Abstract: Neural network patch aggregation and statistical techniques are described. In one or more implementations, patches are generated from an image, e.g., randomly, and used to train a neural network. An aggregation of outputs of patches processed by the neural network may be used to label an image using an image descriptor, such as to label aesthetics of the image, classify the image, and so on. In another example, the patches may be used by the neural network to calculate statistics describing the patches, such as to describe statistics such as minimum, maximum, median, and average of activations of image characteristics of the individual patches. These statistics may also be used to support a variety of functionality, such as to label the image as described above.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 2014Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: ADOBE SYSTEMS INCORPORATEDInventors: Xiaohui Shen, Xin Lu, Zhe Lin, Radomir Mech
