  • Patent number: 10065674
Abstract: Provided is a steering control device that more appropriately performs a limiting function for a controlled variable having an abnormal value even if a plurality of kinds of state quantities that are used for steering control include a state quantity that does not meet a required level of reliability. The range of variation in first assist controlled variable calculated by using steering torque, a steering torque differential value, and a steering velocity, namely state quantities for which the required level of reliability is ensured, is limited by final limiting values calculated based on first to third limit maps. The range of variation in compensation amount calculated by using a steering angle, namely a state quantity for which the required level of reliability is not ensured, is limited by predetermined upper and lower limits. A variation in compensation amount per unit time is limited by a predetermined variation limiting value.

  • Patent number: 10065676
Abstract: The present invention relates to a vehicle control system (1) for controlling a trailer (5) coupled to a vehicle (3) during a reversing operation. The vehicle control system includes a processor (29) configured to determine an actual trailer travel direction (TACT) based on one or more sensor signals. The processor (29) receives a demanded trailer travel direction (TDEM), for example from a user. A maximum permissible hitch angle (?MAX) is calculated by the processor (29) and the demanded trailer travel direction (TDEM) is limited to an angle less than or equal to the calculated maximum permissible hitch angle (?MAX). • Patent number: 10065677
Abstract: The present invention is a guidance computing system used by the driver of a vehicle towing a trailer while backing-up that rapidly calculates and predicts the direction in which the tow vehicle and trailer will become generally in-line for a given position of the steering wheel, thereby enabling the use of slower, lower cost microcomputers. This is accomplished by using a predetermined table, based on a baseline trailer of known length, having a measure of turning as one of its axes; such an axis is necessary to facilitate ratiometric scaling to convert table values to correspond to any length trailer. In a specially equipped vehicle incorporating servomechanisms to enable the vehicle to steer itself, the driver indicates the direction desired for the trailer to travel. The present invention also predicts left and right path limits for controlling the direction of the trailer when maneuvering complex paths.

Abstract: A flying underwater imager device operates in two modes, a tow mode and a free fly mode. In the tow mode for locating underwater objects, the imager device opens foldable wings for remaining depressed below the surface when the wings generate a negative buoyancy. Otherwise, neutral buoyancy characteristics bring the imager device back to surface. In the free fly mode for approaching and imaging underwater objects, the imager device closes the foldable wings and uses thrusters for moving into position to image the underwater objects.

  • Patent number: 10065716
Abstract: An AUV is described that includes an external, deployable payload releasably attached to the exterior of the AUV. The release mechanism between the payload and the AUV is relatively simple and low cost. The payload is mounted external to the AUVs hull and does not significantly increase the cost of the AUV to which it is attached. There are no complex release mechanisms or intermediate launch systems attached to the AUV. Therefore, the described AUV can deploy payloads, such as sensors, that would normally be deployed from a manned platform. This can increase the payload capability of a small expendable AUV without increasing volume or cost of the AUV.
