Abstract: To facilitate conducting a secure transaction via wireless communication between a portable electronic device (such as a smartphone) and another electronic device (such as a point-of-sale terminal), the portable electronic device may, after a final command is received from the other electronic device, determine a unique transaction identifier for the secure transaction. In particular, the final command may be specific to an applet, stored in a secure element in the portable electronic device, which conducts the secure transaction. The secure element may generate the unique transaction identifier based on financial-account information associated with the applet, which is communicated to the other electronic device. Next, the secure element may provide, to a processor in the portable electronic device, an end message for the secure transaction with the unique transaction identifier.

Abstract: A system for processing payments from a customer to a merchant uses a merchant POS system associated with the merchant, a customer mobile device, and a payment server. The payment server generates a Transaction ID unique to a payment transaction. The customer mobile device validates the payment transaction in response to the Transaction ID. The payment server generates a payment notice when the customer mobile device validates the payment transaction. In one case, the merchant POS system presents the Transaction ID to the customer mobile device in preparation for the payment transaction.

Abstract: A payment reader includes a contactless interface for communicating with a contactless device. The payment reader has a processor that executes instructions stored in memory, and the instructions include instructions for a plurality of firmware modules including a message dispatcher module and a plurality of functional modules. The functional modules generate messages and the message dispatcher module stores the messages in a queued data structure such as a stack or a queue. The messages are provided to the functional modules from the queued data structure. Some of the messages are timed messages that are returned to the queued data structure.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for activating a function of an account card based on physical devices interactions such as a motion pattern detected by the account card. In some embodiments, the account card may include one or more sensors and processing capabilities sufficient to store a motion pattern, detect a motion pattern representing movement of the account card, compare the detected motion pattern to the stored motion pattern, and activate one or more functions of the account card based on the comparison. In some embodiments, the one or more functions may relate to account information communication, such as writing a magnetic stripe, unblocking a magnetic stripe, activating a near field communication chip, displaying an account number, providing power to an antenna, or otherwise enabling communication of the account number based on the capabilities of the card.

Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods of user authentication, as well as automatic differentiation between a legitimate user and a cyber-attacker. A system detects that two different accounts of the same computerized service, were accessed by a single computing device over a short period of time. The system may employ various techniques in order to determine automatically whether a legitimate user accessed the two different account, such as, a husband accessing his own bank account and shortly after that accessing also his wife's bank account, or a payroll company accessing bank accounts of two clients for payroll management purposes. Conversely, the system is able to detect that the same user exhibited the same pattern of interactions when operating the two accounts, a pattern of interactions that does not frequently appear in the general population of legitimate users, thereby indicating that the single user is a cyber-attacker.

Abstract: In one embodiment, transferring payment between a first user and a second user of a communication system includes displaying a contact list in a user interface of a client executed at a user terminal of the first user, the contact list including the second user. The client retrieves and displays at least one page from a payment provider responsive to the first user selecting the second user from the contact list. The client transmits, to the payment provider, information related to the payment entered into the page by the first user, which causes the payment provider to transfer the payment from an account of the first user to an account of the second user.

Abstract: A device may process a message associated with an account to identify a first identifier that identifies a third party. The device may identify a match between the first identifier and transaction information related to an individual associated with the account. The transaction information may include a set of first identifiers that identify a respective set of third parties. The transaction information may facilitate identification of one or more messages that is likely to include account information. The device may tag the message with a second identifier based on the match. The device may receive, from another device, the message based on the message being tagged with the second identifier. The device may process the message to identify the account information related to another account. The device may extract identified account information from the message. The device may perform an action related to extracted account information or the message.

Abstract: Several embodiments include a mobile device that uses a media file to render a passcode entry interface. The passcode entry interface can have an assigned location of an input element that corresponds to an inputtable value in the passcode entry interface. The media file can include a visual depiction having the input element at the assigned location. In several embodiments, the media file does not store the association between the assigned location and the inputtable value. The assigned location corresponding to the inputtable value can be separately stored. The mobile device can receive a coordinate of a touch event on the passcode entry interface. To determine a passcode entry based on the touch event, the coordinate can be compared against the separately stored assigned location to determine a corresponding input value to the coordinate.

Abstract: A system and method for maintaining authentication of a user of a wearable device. The wearable device can include an electrical circuit, an accelerometer, a capacitive sensor, or other wearable detection module that can determine that the wearable device has been in continuous contact with, or continuous use by, the wearer. A first payment transaction can be initiated between the wearable device and a first payment terminal. A user credential is then received at either the wearable device or a mobile device coupled to the wearable device. The user credential is verified and the first payment transaction is authorized. A second payment transaction is then initiated between the wearable device and a second payment terminal. If the wearable device is determined to have been in continuous use by the user, then the second payment transaction can be completed without requiring re-authentication of the user.

Abstract: A system and method for authorizing transactions using biometrics is disclosed. The system may be a commerce authorization system comprising a portable computing device, a docking station, and a biometric reader. The method for authorizing a transaction may comprise the steps of: receiving biometric data from a biometric reader; comparing the received biometric data with a biometric template; and, transmitting payment information to the vendor.

Abstract: In one embodiment a controller comprises logic to receive, via a near field communication link, an identification packet generated by a remote authentication provider, associate an electronic signature with the identification packet, transmit the identification packet to a remote authentication provider, receive an authorization from the remote authentication provider, receive login information associated with the identification packet, and initiate a login procedure using the login information. Abstract: Systems and methods for managing concurrent secure elements on a mobile device to coordinate with an application or “app” running on the mobile device and an appropriate communications protocol for conducting transactions using the mobile device include: informing, by the processor, the reader device of a preferred app and a communication protocol usable by the preferred app; receiving, by the processor, information about which apps and communication protocols are supported by a reader for processing a transaction; locating, by the processor, a secure element supporting an app and a communication protocol supported by the reader; channeling the communication protocol for the specific configuration of the app and the supporting secure element; activating the secure element that supports the app; and processing, with the activated secure element, using the supported app and communication channel, the transaction with the reader.

Abstract: A folding mechanism is used to authenticate purchases when making transactions using a contactless smart card. By folding the contactless card in a precise manner, the electrical resistance of the antenna circuit of the contactless card is changed by bypassing the card's built-in resistors. A user may set a folding orientation as the “password” of the contactless card. This folding orientation determines the electrical resistance of the card necessary to authenticate a purchase.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a framework for determining a service provider to service a customer request. In accordance with one aspect, a request from a customer is received by a decision module. The decision module further receives a response to the request from a first service provider, determines the average frequency of responses for a given time interval during the time and location of the request, estimates arrival time of the first service provider and near-by service providers to the location of the customer, ranks all service providers based on arrival time, and estimates a probability of a shorter customer wait time.

Abstract: A network device sends, to a customer device, real-time customer data for a service campaign running on a service provider network. The network device receives a customer authorization to share the customer data with an agent of the service provider network. The customer authorization includes session context information related to the presentation of the customer data. The network device determines if there are predictive options for the customer data. When there are no predictive options for the real-time customer data, the network device sends, to the customer device, a first feed of the real-time customer data and sends, to the agent device, the session context information and a second feed of the real-time customer data. The session context information enables the agent device to build an instance of the customer data that is similar to a presentation on the customer device, without sharing the customer screen view.

Abstract: A user may perform activities at an automated device having various technical features, such as a display, a printer, a camera, a microphone, a speaker, and other features used to perform activities at the automated device. During performance of an activity, the user may run into an issue and request assistance from an agent having a computing device (e.g., a portable computing device). Additionally or alternatively, the automated device may detect the issue and send a request for assistance to a computing device managing a transaction assistance portal or directly to the agent's computing device. The request may identify the user, the activity, and/or the issue, and the agent and his or her computing device may be used to resolve the issue. The agent's computing device may also be used to facilitate customer relationship management with the user.

Abstract: A third-party company may assist other companies in providing customer support to their customers. The third-party company may provide software to a computer of a customer service representative to present a user interface to assist the customer service representative in responding to customer requests. Third-party company may also send update data to the computer of the customer service representative to cause a portion of the user interface to be updated, where the update data is determined using an intent of a message received from a customer. A message received from the customer may be processed to determine the intent of the message, a template may be obtained using the intent, and the update data may be generated by rendering the selected template. The update data may then be transmitted to the computer of the customer service representative to cause a portion of the user interface to be updated.

Abstract: Financial transaction data representing financial transactions associated with a user is obtained from two or more sources through a personal financial management and bill payment system. The financial transaction data is then analyzed to identify recurring payments to the same payees, and/or for the same products or services, and generate baseline bill payment and/or invoice data for the same payees, and/or for the same products or services. Financial transaction data associated with the user is then monitored and compared with the baseline bill payment and/or invoice data and if a bill and/or invoice payment is identified for a payee, and/or for a service or product, that is outside a defined range of the baseline amount or frequency associated with that payee, and/or for that service or product, the bill and/or invoice payment is identified as a potentially fraudulent financial transaction.

Abstract: The subject matter described herein includes methods, systems, and computer readable media for tracking consumer interactions with products using modular sensor units. In one system, a plurality of weight and motion sensors is configured to track consumer interactions with products. The system further includes a plurality of sensor mounts for holding the sensors in place. Each sensor mount includes signal lines for transmitting power to the sensors and for conducting signals between the sensors and a signal processor. The system further includes a plurality of conductors for interconnecting sensor mounts to a signal processor. The system further includes a plurality of connectors to allow rapid addition and removal of the sensors and their mounts as needed for a particular product planogram.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for communicating product or service information to a potential purchaser. A product or item describing a service are scanned to obtain both a product or service code and an advertisement promotion code provided by a vendor/retailer or manufacturer of the product or service using a smartphone of a first user. A barcode is generated on the smartphone by combining the product or service code and the advertisement promotion code with information from the smartphone associated with the product or service and with an advertiser code that uniquely identifies the first user. The barcode is communicated to a communication device of a second user that is the potential purchaser of the product or service. When the communication device is presented to a point of sale (POS) terminal, the terminal scans the barcode, decodes the barcode, and compensates the first user according to the advertisement promotion code.

Abstract: A third-party advertisement creator builds a template for an advertisement using a markup language provided by the social networking system. The template may include a function to call information from a user's profile as well as a function to perform an action in the social networking system and/or external to the social networking system. An advertiser selects a template, add content to the template to create an advertisement, and then requests that the advertisement be published by the social networking system to a viewing user. At runtime, the social networking system parses the markup language in the advertisement to use tags with the viewing user's personal and social information and/or function calls to perform the action (e.g., to make the user a “fan” of a page). Abstract: When an online system receives a request to present content items to a user, a content selection system included in the online system selects content items for presentation to the user during a latency period from the time the request was received until the time when the content items are sent. A feedback control mechanism communicates with each computing device of the content selection system to determine the latency period of each computing device. The feedback control mechanism also determines a target latency period in which content items are selected. By comparing the latency period of each computing device to the target latency period, an amount of information to be evaluated by each computing device is determined based on whether a computing device's latency period is greater than or less than the target latency period.
