A user activates a switch or interrupts a beam with the intent of terminating the sequence in time coincidence with illumination of a designated LED proximate the target. A microprocessor detects the time difference between illumination of the designated LED and termination of the sequence by the user as measure of the user's visual tracking and reaction time. In one embodiment the user is a baseball batter, the target is a home plate and the selectable paths are simulations of straight and breaking pitches.

A set of magnetometer readings may be obtained from a magnetometer included with an object. A local rotation axis of the object may be determined at a time using the set of magnetometer readings. The local rotation axis may describe rotation of the object around a local magnetic target. A global rotation axis may be calculated based on an initial orientation of the object. The global rotation axis may describe a fixed rotation axis of the object during flight in a global coordinate frame, wherein an angle between the global rotation axis and magnetic north remains constant during the flight. An orientation of the object may be determined for the time using the global rotation axis and the local rotation axis of the object at the time.

The skin cleat is configured to be attached around a ski by a skier without disengaging the ski boot from the skis and can be removed and re-attached depending on the needs of the user. The skin cleat is a strap-like device that includes two end sections and a studded central section there-between. The central section is intended to be placed underneath the base of the ski and skin such that the studs extend into the snow. The two end sections can be attached together by a coupling to form a continuous structure around the waist of the ski. Abstract: Wastesolution treatment systems and methods are provided which may remove particulates and hydrocarbons from wastesolution. Embodiments may be used to treat scrubber wastesolution from exhaust gas cleaning (“EGC”) systems. Some embodiments may be used with terrestrial EGC systems and others may be used for maritime ship EGC systems. Certain embodiments remove free phase oil and particulates from the wastesolution. Some embodiments may utilize a biogenerator cultured with hydrocarbon degrading microorganisms to reduce the concentration of oils in the water. Certain embodiments may utilize a clarifier and filtration unit to remove contaminants in the water. The wastesolution may be recirculated through the system until the measured contaminant concentration drops below a threshold value. The treated wastesolution may be stored, reused, or may be safely discharged from the system.

Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for changing a state of a gas relative to a liquid are disclosed. The device includes a section of conduit for containing a multiphase fluid including a liquid and gas, and at least one capillary within the section of conduit. The capillary has a first capillary end open to the flowing gas for receiving gas and a second capillary end open to a flowing liquid for expelling gas into the flowing liquid thus forming bubbles in the flowing liquid. Through the use of the device, gas can be passively transferred from the flowing gas to the flowing liquid. The device is suitable for use in fluid handling systems located downstream of a substantial change in pressure.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a plate settler cover that prevents algae growth, prevents contamination from organic material, and provides structural support for a user who is standing or walking on the plate settler system. The plate settler covers can either float directly on standing water present in the system or may be structurally supported such that the plate cover is positioned above the surface of the water.
