Abstract: Described is a shopping cart used to collect items in a retail store and transport them throughout the store and/or to a customer's vehicle. The shopping cart is configured to make it easier to load and unload heavy and awkward items. The shopping cart has a shopping cart basket and a support structure supporting the shopping cart basket above a wheel assembly. A front panel of the shopping cart basket rolls on wheels and tracks to a position above the basket or below the shopping basket. The shopping cart also has a lifting mechanism for raising and lowering the shopping cart basket. A customer can raise or lower the shopping cart basket and slide the front panel out of the way, if needed, for easy loading and unloading of the shopping cart. These features make it easier for the customer to load and unload heavy and awkward items.

Abstract: The steering control apparatus determines whether or not a deviation degree of a current traveling route of a vehicle with respect to a target traveling route is equal to or more than a predetermined threshold, when steering control is switched from manual steering control to automatic steering control. In the automatic steering control, a command steering angle is calculated so that a difference between a real traveling route of the vehicle and the target traveling route is eliminated. However, when the deviation degree is equal to or more than the predetermined threshold, the steering control apparatus recalculates the command steering angle used in the command steering angle tracking control based on a steering angle at the time of starting the automatic steering control and the command steering angle so that a real steering angle after switching to the automatic steering control changes gradually to the command steering angle.

Abstract: When a steering angle reaches a first value close to a second value that defines a boundary of the maximum physical range of operation of a steering wheel, an ECU calculates a virtual end controlled variable that sharply increases a steering torque. The ECU calculates a second limit on the virtual end controlled variable and calculates a final limit (upper and lower limits) on an assist controlled variable by taking into account the second limit. When performing virtual end control, the ECU calculates the final limit on the assist controlled variable by using, as a first limit corresponding to the steering torque, a previous value held by upper and lower limit holders, instead of a present value calculated in accordance with the steering torque in a present calculation cycle.
