Abstract: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a transdermal patch from a drug-containing web that minimizes waste. The web is a layered composite that includes at least a backing layer and a drug-in-adhesive layer and a first strippable release liner. The web is kiss-cut along intersecting cut lines at least down to the depth of the liner, generally defining the extent of individual transdermal patches. The intersections of the cut lines define small zones that are punched out of the web in a generally star shape. The portions of the web above the liner are peeled away from the liner and transferred to a faster moving second liner so that the patches are now further spaced apart from one another. This second liner is then cut to provide transdermal patches that are mounted to release liners that are substantially broader in extent than the patches themselves.

Abstract: Methods of producing a transdermal delivery patches are described comprising the preparation of a uniform suspension of drug particles. A plasticizer is added to the suspension. A solution of an adhesive is add to the suspension to form a drug suspension in the adhesive mixture. The drug suspension is coated on a release liner and all solvents are evaporated to form a solid drug reservoir layer. A medical device for transdermal administration of a drug can include the solid drug reservoir layer. Suitable drugs include fentanyl and sufentanil.

Abstract: Methods of treating or suppressing oxidative stress diseases and symptoms related to oxidative stress affecting normal electron flow in the cells or caused by reactive oxygen species with redox-active therapeutics. Use of redox-active therapeutics for the reduction, suppression or treatment of oxidative stress induced by chemical agents such as contrast agents and other nephrotoxic agents, by radiation exposure, and by disruptions in the transport of oxygen to tissues, is disclosed.
