Abstract: Techniques for heart rate estimation are disclosed. In an embodiment, synchronized photoplethysmograph (PPG) and 3-axis acceleration signals are received. Further, the PPG and acceleration signals are partitioned into windows. Furthermore, it is determined whether motion is present in a window of the acceleration signal. Moreover, Fourier transform is performed on the signals to obtain power spectra of the signals in the window when there is motion. Also, it is determined whether a peak of the acceleration signal is present in a range around first highest PPG peak. Further, it is determined whether the peak of the acceleration signal affects heart rate of the user when the peak of the acceleration signal is in the range around the highest PPG peak. The heart rate of the user in the window is then estimated using second highest PPG peak when the peak of the acceleration signal affects heart rate of the user.

Abstract: Certain examples described herein relate to acoustic detection mask systems and/or methods. In certain examples, an acoustic detection mask system is provided. An example acoustic detection mask system includes a mask having a microphone located therein or thereon. The microphone is connected to a data logger that is configured to capture vibrations and/or sounds registered by the microphone. The data logger may store such information in a computer readable storage media thereof for subsequent analysis, e.g., via a computer program accessing such data after the data logger is connected to a separate computer system. The microphone may be positioned and the data analyzed so as to determine differences between oral and nasal breathing, as well as sleep-disordered breath and/or snoring. Such components may be provided as a part of a system or in any suitable combination or sub-combination. Associated methods also are described herein as a part of the technology.

Abstract: The disclosure is directed to a power management method and an ultrasound apparatus using the same. The ultrasound apparatus includes an ultrasound probe, an TRX circuit, a position sensor, and a processor. In the disclosure, power is supplied to the ultrasound apparatus, and an ultrasound scanning is performed. During the ultrasound scanning, position information of the ultrasound probe is being continuously detected by the position sensor. Whether the ultrasound probe is in a static state during the ultrasound scanning is determined. When determined that the ultrasound probe is in the static state during the ultrasound scanning, a power saving mode is entered, such that the ultrasound scanning is stopped. Within the power saving mode, the position information is continuously detected. Whether the ultrasound probe is still in the static state under the power saving mode is determined.

The disposable assembly includes a fluid input port, a fluid output port, and a tube configured to provide fluid communication between the fluid input port and the fluid output port. The reusable assembly includes a housing, a fluid management assembly that is configured to transition between an open position and a closed position, and a sensing assembly. The fluid management assembly is configured to prevent fluid from traveling past the tube to the fluid output port in the closed position. The sensing assembly is configured to sense fluid accumulating within the tube while the fluid management assembly is in the closed position. The sensing assembly is also configured to drive the fluid management assembly from the closed position to the open position when the sensing assembly detects fluid within the tube at a predetermined range.
