  • Patent number: RE47157
Abstract: The present invention provides systems, articles, and methods for discriminating electromagnetic radiation based upon the angle of incidence of the electromagnetic radiation. In some cases, the materials and systems described herein can be capable of inhibiting reflection of electromagnetic radiation (e.g., the materials and systems can be capable of transmitting and/or absorbing electromagnetic radiation) within a given range of angles of incidence at a first incident surface, while substantially reflecting electromagnetic radiation outside the range of angles of incidence at a second incident surface (which can be the same as or different from the first incident surface). A photonic material comprising a plurality of periodically occurring separate domains can be used, in some cases, to selectively transmit and/or selectively absorb one portion of incoming electromagnetic radiation while reflecting another portion of incoming electromagnetic radiation, based upon the angle of incidence.

The drive system includes an arrangement to halt the sickle bar on shut-down at a predetermined position of the knife blades relative to the knife guards and preferably the position where the blades lie intermediate two knife guards. The system can be halted by either a physical stop member at the required position or by detecting the position of the sickle bar during operation and causing it to halt the required position. The detection can be carried out by counting pulses generated by markers on a rotary member of the drive system.

Abstract: In a mower (10) driven by a pair of electric motors (15) and using an engine (14) for driving a cutter blade (22), a fuel tank (16) for supplying fuel to the engine is positioned in a space surrounded by the electric motors and a chute (30) for forwarding grass clippings to a grass collection bag (23). The chute extends rearward with an upward slant, and is bent in side view in such a manner that a lower part has a steeper incline than an upper part thereof.

  • Patent number: 10149433
Abstract: A combination blade and cord weed cutter-trimmer head apparatus that incorporates a mounting head, having a base plate, that mounts an electric or gas motor, its motor shaft extending downwardly, and through an adapter connects with generally through the cutter blade, with the shaft extending further downwardly for connecting with the string trimmer head of the device. Thus, the device can cut thicker weeds and brush through the application of its cutter blade, and can cut the shortened weeds down to an acceptable level through the usage of the string trimmer. Slip clutches may be incorporated within the device, to allow the motor shaft to continue rotating, in the event that the cutter blade encounters an unmovable obstacle, that prevents its rotation.

  • Patent number: 10149434
Abstract: A hand-held cutting device may include a working assembly, a motor and a control assembly. The working assembly may be configured to be rotatable in a first direction and a second direction to perform a first function when rotated in the first direction and a second function, different from the first function, when rotated in the second direction. The motor may be operably coupled to the working assembly to rotate the working assembly. The control assembly may be operably coupled to the motor to enable an operator of the device to select a rotation direction for the working assembly. The working assembly may be configured to perform the first and second functions using a single blade assembly.

  • Patent number: 10149436
Abstract: A mobile picking platform system includes a mobile picking platform having a mobile carriage with a superstructure supporting multiple adjustable picking stations. A storage box carrier on the mobile picking platform has a pick position with storage boxes held at optimum heights for access by pickers on the picking stations, an unload position in which full storage boxes are unloaded onto a ground surface, and a load position for receiving empty storage boxes. A storage unit carries empty storage boxes and facilitates transfer of storage boxes to the mobile picking platform. A shuttle trailer may also be included in the system to transfer empty storage boxes to the mobile picking platform and storage unit. The shuttle trailer has a down positon in which full storage boxes may be picked up from a ground surface, and an up position for transferring storage boxes to the storage unit or mobile picking platform.
