Publication number: 20180363979Abstract: Selective recovery of C2 to C4 hydrocarbons is achieved through the use of a converging-diverging nozzle, or de Laval nozzle. The vapor stream comprising C2 to C4 hydrocarbons is fed into an inlet of a de Laval nozzle having a throat. The vapor stream may have an initial temperature of between 0° C. and 100° C., and an initial pressure of between 200 psig and 500 psig. In the de Laval nozzle, the vapor stream expands after passing through the throat of the de Laval nozzle, producing a vapor stream having reduced temperature and pressure. Then, C2 to C4 hydrocarbons condense from the reduced-temperature vapor stream as liquid droplets, which may be recovered. Fractionation of C2 to C4 hydrocarbons by means of a de Laval nozzle is possible; the technique allows selective recovery of a stream enriched in propene from a mixture of propane and propene.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 8, 2016Publication date: December 20, 2018Inventors: Ashfaq Shahanawaz SHAIKH, Anthony PONDER, Ginette TOLLESON

Publication number: 20180363991Abstract: New exemplary heat exchange configurations that incorporate internal or external surfaces equipped with perturbators, for changing the thermal behavior of the system, or for modulating the surface temperature distribution of the flow surfaces. This is achieved by applying an acoustic wave to the fluid flow in a heat exchange passage, and selecting the frequency of the acoustic exciting wave to be the same as the acoustic resonance frequency of the heat exchange passage itself. As the traveling waves interact with the boundaries confining the heat exchange passages, constructive interference of the incident and reflected waves give rise to a standing wave. Thus, the heat exchange passages act as a resonator, and by superimposing this standing wave on the separating and reattaching fluid flow, significant heat transfer improvement can be achieved. This is accomplished without the need to significantly increase the pressure required to achieve the desired through flow.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2015Publication date: December 20, 2018Inventor: Beni CUKUREL

Publication number: 20180363992Abstract: A gas cooler effectively prevents or suppresses an outflow of drain water to the outside. The gas cooler includes a casing, a cooling unit, a seal plate, a lead-in port, a lead-out port, and a drain scattering prevention member. The cooling unit is accommodated within the casing and cools gas. The seal plate is provided in the cooling unit and partitions an inside of the casing into an upper space thorough which the gas before passing through the cooling unit flows and a bottom space through which the gas after passing through the cooling unit flows. The gas is led from the lead-in port into the upper space, and the gas is led out of the bottom space via the lead-out port. The drain scattering prevention member is disposed in the bottom space, and collects the drain water, while allowing the gas to pass therethrough.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2016Publication date: December 20, 2018Applicant: Kabushiki Kaisha Kobe Seiko Sho (Kobe Steel, Ltd.)Inventors: Kazuya HIRATA, Koji HAGIHARA
