  • Patent number: 10195787
Abstract: Layers of build and support material on an intermediate transfer surface are moved past a transfuse station and a platen moves relative to the intermediate transfer surface to contact the platen to one of the layers on the intermediate transfer surface. The intermediate transfer surface transfers a layer of the build material and the support material to the platen each time the platen contacts the layers on the intermediate transfer surface at the transfuse station to successively form a freestanding stack of the layers of build and support material on the platen. The build material has a higher melting temperature than the support material. A support material removal station heats the stack to a temperature above the melting temperature of the support material, but below the melting temperature of the build material, to melt the support material, but leave a 3-D structure made of only the build material.

Abstract: In some examples, an agent distributor may be to selectively deliver agent through nozzles of the agent distributor to portions of layers of build material in patterns derived from agent delivery control data representing slices of a three-dimensional object such that the portions are to solidify to form the slices in accordance with the patterns. While generating the three-dimensional object, the agent distributor may be primed such that a particle of the build material is removed from the agent distributor through at least one of the nozzles.

  • Patent number: 10195793
Abstract: A water-soluble insert for use in joining pipes, made of a material comprising a salt selected from the group consisting of KCl, Na Cl, and mixtures thereof; and MgO. Upon addition of a small amount of water to the material, the MgO reacts with hygroscopic impurities in the chloride salt to provide a material with superior properties. The insert is cast from the material, in general by being placed on a form and compressed. Also disclosed is the use of the insert in joining the ends of two pipes, especially pipes made from thermoplastic. The insert is placed in the matching pipe ends, which are then welded. After the join is complete, water is flowed through the pipe, dissolving the insert.

Abstract: Systems and methods for drape forming a charge of composite material are disclosed herein. The systems include a forming mandrel, a charge support structure, a flexible and resilient forming membrane, a base, and a vacuum source. The charge support structure includes a flexible and resilient charge support membrane, a membrane suspension device, and a release structure. The release structure operatively couples the charge support membrane to the membrane suspension device when a tension on a peripheral region of the charge support membrane is less than a threshold tension and releases the charge support membrane from the membrane suspension device when the tension is greater than the threshold tension. Alternatively, and in place of the charge support structure, the systems include a means for supporting the charge of composite material. The methods include methods of drape forming a charge of composite material.
