The cooling apparatus may include: a pump configured to circulate a refrigerant between the device and a radiator, and a controller configured to provide an output command value to the pump, and to monitor occurrence of abnormality of the pump. The controller may be configured capable of executing: vehicle-speed-based control including shifting the output command value when a vehicle speed falls below a predetermined vehicle speed threshold value; and monitoring control including: measuring an abnormality duration time during which a rotational speed of the pump is deviating from a predetermined allowable range; and outputting a notification signal notifying the abnormality of the pump when the measured abnormality duration time exceeds a predetermined time threshold value. While the controller is measuring the abnormality duration time in the monitoring control, the controller may inhibit the vehicle-speed-based control.

Abstract: Each vehicle includes a detection device configured to detect a situation outside the vehicle. When a server receives from a depleted EV a help signal requesting power supply from another vehicle to the depleted EV, the server selects, from among the other vehicles, a rescue EV to supply electric power to the depleted EV. The rescue EV moves to the depleted EV, stops behind the depleted EV detected by the detection device, and supplies power to the depleted EV while being stopped behind the depleted EV.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a novel high-performance repairable sliding plate of a pantograph of an electric locomotive and a manufacturing method thereof. The sliding plate includes a monometallic substrate and a conductive, wear-resistant, anticorrosion and self-lubricating coating integrated with the substrate. The coating is formed by plasma spraying Cu—TiO2 core-shell composite powder on the monometallic substrate directly, and includes the following components by mass percent: 60-70% of Ti4O7, 15-25% of Cu, 10-15% of TixO2x-1 and 5-10% of TiO2, where 5?x?10. The multifunctional composite coating is the working layer of the sliding plate of the present disclosure, and the damage of the coating can be repaired by plasma spraying with the composite powder, thereby recovering dimensional accuracy and service performance.

Abstract: A device comprises motor controller coupled to a drive motor and a battery pack of a vehicle. The motor controller comprises a processor that is configured to: determine that the vehicle is engaged in a neutral braking mode, and after determining that the vehicle is engaged in the neutral braking mode: select a neutral braking torque curve, determine a rotational velocity of the drive motor, based on the determined rotational velocity of the drive motor, determine an amount of regenerative braking torque to apply to the drive motor based on the selected neutral braking torque curve, apply the determined amount of regenerative braking torque to the drive motor, wherein applying the determined amount of regenerative braking torque to the drive motor results in a regenerative current generated by the drive motor, and supply the regenerative current to the battery pack to at least partially recharge the battery pack.

Abstract: A vehicle has an electric machine including two sets of galvanically isolated windings, first and second inverters each coupled with only one of the sets, and a traction battery. The vehicle also has a switching arrangement that, during charge, couples the first inverter with a port such that current from a remote source flows through one of the sets and induces a voltage in the other of the sets to charge the battery while isolating the source from the battery.

Abstract: A configurable battery system may be arranged in such a way that two battery modules are connected in parallel to achieve a target maximum voltage for a load, or in series to achieve a high voltage of about double the target maximum voltage. Fast charging, at high voltage, may allow both battery modules to be charged at a charging current near a desired maximum current at the battery charger. A battery management module determines a switch configuration, coupling the battery modules in series or parallel. The battery management module applies the switch configuration to one or more switches to manage charging of the battery modules. The battery management module may receive charger capability information, local charging information, and fault information to aid in determining a switch configuration.

Abstract: A method for charging a battery in an electric or hybrid vehicle provides an alternative to switching to low tap. In accordance with this method, if a tap cross occurs, an OBCM reduces its power limit by a configurable amount and then retries charging at a lower level. This process can be repeated as many times as it takes to find a power level that prevents a tap cross. Advantageously, the battery can be charged in the shortest amount of time instead of limiting the power to the low tap level. A charging system implementing the method is also provided.
