Abstract: The invention provides a unique construction for a sports helmet, as well as a novel approach to protecting the head of a sports player from head injury. The helmet of this invention is comprised of an outer layer comprised of a flexible material, an inner layer comprised of a flexible material, wherein the outer layer and inner layer define a space layer, wherein the space layer contains a gas, gel or liquid, and wherein the inner layer of the helmet is configured to fit around a human head.

Abstract: A helmet having non-bursting gas cells preferably includes a hard helmet shell, an outside gas cell impact layer and an inside gas cell impact layer. The outside gas cell impact layer preferably includes at least one gas cell layer and an outside layer of sheet material. Each gas cell layer includes a plurality of gas cells created between two plastic sheets. The inside gas cell impact layer includes the at least one gas cell layer. The inside and outside gas cell impact layers may be permanently or removably attached to hard helmet shell. A second embodiment of the helmet having non-bursting gas cells preferably includes the hard helmet shell, the outside gas cell impact layer and an inside gas cell inflatable impact layer. The inside gas cell inflatable impact layer preferably includes at least one inflatable gas cell layer and a check valve.

Abstract: A shield for a helmet includes a shield having a sun visor rotatably and axially supported at a position different from a rotation center of the shield. The sun visor rotates within a range from a first position where the sun visor, like a bill of a hat, lies above a front opening part and projects forward to a second position where the sun visor lies outside facing the shield in an overlapping manner, and the sun visor is retained in the first position. The sun visor is operated and moved forward and away from the shield to rotate from the first position to the second position.

Additionally or alternatively, the sole structure may include a perimeter rim and/or side wall integrally formed with and extending upward from a foot-supporting surface at least at a rear heel area of the sole structure. Each circular grouping is a different size to provide more or less rotational movement to the associated portion of the sole structure.
