  • Patent number: 10279105
Abstract: Apparatuses and methods for delivery of medicaments such as insulin disclosed herein can increase the effectiveness of therapy by adjusting medicament delivery parameters to account for the loss of medicament absorption upon delivering medicament at a new insertion site. When a needle is inserted at a new site on a patient's body for delivery of medicament to that patient, a natural inflammatory response by the body to insertion of the needle causes the body to resist absorption of the delivered medicament. However, this medicament resistance decreases over time. Embodiments of the invention therefore adjust medicament delivery to deliver less medicament as time passes after an infusion set change causes medicament to be delivered at a new insertion site.

  • Patent number: 10279107
Abstract: A patch pump utilizes piezoelectricity to dispense medicament from a cartridge syringe to a patient. Pump can include a plurality of piezoelectric elements that when energized cause linear motion of a pushrod that interfaces with the syringe in the cartridge to advance the syringe and dispense the medicament. The high torque generated by the piezoelectric elements is directly converted into the same amount of torque on the lead screw, so no torque increasing gear reduction system is needed and the pushrod utilized to drive the syringe can be contained within and connected directly to the motor assembly. Such a piezoelectric-based system can therefore be made smaller and with fewer moving parts than an electromagnetic motor of the same capability such that the pump has a smaller size than has heretofore been possible with prior art electromagnetic-based syringe pumps and other pumps that utilize gear reduction systems.

  • Patent number: 10279133
Abstract: The function of a respiration system, with a patient port (1) with connected inspiration branch (3) and expiration branch, is checked. A rebreathing line (9) connects the inspiration branch to the expiration branch. A reservoir (25) is connected to a reservoir port (27) in the rebreathing line. An actuatable control valve (29) is provided in the rebreathing line between the expiration branch and the reservoir port. A pressure sensor (33) is connected to the rebreathing line. A control unit (39) is connected to the control valve and to pressure sensor. The process includes closing the control valve for a preset inspiration time and opening it for a preset expiration time. The value sent by the pressure sensor is detected with the control valve opened during the expiration time and compared with a preset first threshold valve. An error message is generated when the value sent exceeds the first threshold value.

Abstract: A pressure support system configured to provide pressure support therapy to a subject is described. The pressure support system comprises a humidifier configured to control the humidity of gas provided to the subject during a sleep cycle to ensure an amount of liquid will remain in the humidifier at the conclusion of an estimated usage time. The pressure support system is configured to ensure humidified breathing gas is delivered to a subject during a usage time within a pressure support usage period. During times when the subject's moisture demand is greater than amount of moisture available in the humidifier, the pressure support system may decrease the amount moisture in the breathing gas so humidified therapy is available during the entire time the user is asleep.
