Abstract: System and methods of controlling diverter placement during stimulation treatments are provided. Data relating to at least one downhole parameter is obtained for a current treatment stage within a subsurface formation. A response of the diverter to be injected during a diversion phase of the current stage on the downhole parameter is estimated, based on the obtained data and a diagnostic data model. Values for diversion control parameters are calculated, based on the estimated response. As the diverter is injected into the formation, an actual response of the diverter is monitored. Upon determining that a difference between the actual and estimated response exceeds an error tolerance threshold, the model is updated. The model is further updated over subsequent iterations of the diversion phase when the actual response is less than the estimated response. Subsequent diversion phases are performed over a remainder of the current stage, based on the updated model.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for maintaining the performance and operational stability of an RF (radio frequency) antenna that is positioned in a hydrocarbon-bearing formation, for heating the formation using electromagnetic energy in the radio frequency range. Contaminants such as water or brine, metallic particulates and ionic or organic materials frequently occur in a wellbore being prepared for RF heating, or in an RF antenna installed in the wellbore. Prior to applying RF electrical energy to the formation, the antenna is decontaminated by circulating a preconditioning fluid through the antenna and recovering a spent fluid for treating and recycle. Decontamination is continued while the spent fluid from the antenna includes, but not limited to, water, metallic particles, ionic species, organic compounds contaminants, etc. An operational power level of radio frequency electrical energy is then applied to the decontaminated antenna for providing thermal energy to the hydrocarbon-bearing formation.

Abstract: A method for constructing networked preferential gas migration pathways and diverting and extracting gas. The method proposes that a fracture generation hole, a fracture guidance and development hole, a lateral rupture hole, and a fracture connection hole are respectively constructed in a roof in roadways on two sides of a working face in advance of an advance stress change area. Artificial guided fractures are actively constructed and formed inside the hard roof. Under a mining-induced stress effect, the artificial guided fractures and mining-induced fractures intersect with and are connected to each other to form networked preferential gas migration pathways. Meanwhile, boreholes for artificial guided fractures accelerate roof fracturing to form a rupture bed separation fracture area in a roof. Gas flows and migrates in a timely and efficient manner along networked fracture pathways and concentrates in the rupture bed separation fracture area in the roof.

Abstract: A method of balancing turbocharger rotating assembly (50) includes installing a shaft-and-turbine wheel subassembly (40) into a ball bearing cartridge (20) within a bearing housing (8) of a turbocharger (1), connecting a compressor wheel (5) to the shaft (6), and testing the balance of the turbocharger rotating assembly (50) while the turbocharger rotating assembly (50) is installed within the bearing housing (8) of the turbocharger (1). Based on the results of the balance testing, material is removed from the turbine wheel (4) while the shaft-and-turbine wheel subassembly (40) is installed within the bearing housing (8) of the turbocharger (1). The step of removing the material from the turbine wheel (4) comprises removing material from a peripheral edge (35) of a backwall (34) of the turbine wheel (4).

Abstract: A blade for a gas turbine engine comprises an airfoil having a pressure side and a suction side, with a root and a tip wall. The pressure side and suction side extend beyond the tip wall to define a tip channel, defining a plurality of internal and external corners. The corners comprise fillets to define a thickness being greater than the thickness for the pressure, suction, or tip walls. A film hole can extend through the fillet, such that the length of the film hole at the fillet can be increased to define an increased length-to-diameter ratio for the film hole to improve film cooling through the film hole.
