Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the synthesis of ammonia, in which a fresh gas consisting largely of hydrogen and nitrogen is compressed via a compressor and subsequently fed to an ammonia converter for conversion into a converter product containing ammonia and comprising hydrogen and nitrogen. Upstream of the compressor, ammonia is evaporated into the fresh gas in order to cool the fresh gas and to produce a cold substance mixture comprising ammonia and the fresh gas. The substance mixture is heated in a heat exchanger against at least one process stream to be cooled, and subsequently compressed via the compressor, to obtain a compressed substance mixture comprising ammonia and the fresh gas. Upstream of the circuit cooler, a gas mixture consisting largely of hydrogen and nitrogen is fed to a substance stream comprising the fresh gas. The constituents of the gas mixture are separated from the converter product and/or from the compressed substance mixture comprising ammonia and the fresh gas.

Abstract: Perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds in an effluent stream are destroyed by means of electro-oxidation. Although electro-oxidation can be used to directly treat effluent, a more efficient use is to pre-concentrate applicable pollutants with filters or sorbents. Concentrated perfluorinated and polyfluorinated compounds are removed from the filter or sorbent with a regenerant solution and treated by electro-oxidation. A current density of 0.5 mA/cm2 or 1 mA/cm2 effectively reduces the level of perfluorinated contaminants within 1-3 hr. using a titanium electrode. This allows both the regenerant and filter or sorbent to be reused and greatly reduces the amount of material that must be treated as hazardous waste.

Abstract: A vitreous enamel coating for an electrosurgical metal cutting blade, in which incident light striking the vitreous enamel coating is diffusely reflected or absorbed, and the vitreous enamel coating exhibits a 60° gloss value less than 100 gloss units as measured according to ASTM D523-14, Standard Test Method for Specular Gloss. The coating reduces glare from light sources such as a nearby plasma-mediated discharge, operating theater lights or lights provided on an electrosurgery apparatus. The coating may also lessen interference with markers, sensors or other instruments designed to measure light emitted by or passing through nearby tissue such as by transillumination.
