Patent number: 10328816Abstract: When a use index indicative of a degree of use of external charging is less than a threshold, an electronic control unit determines that the degree of use of external charging is low, and executes a charging guide control to promote the use of external charging at the time of parking at a battery charging point, such as at home or in a battery charging station, where the external charging is performable. Hereby, it is possible to promote a driver to use external charging at the time of parking at the battery charging point. As a result, the use of external charging can be promoted.Type: GrantFiled: March 23, 2017Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Shinji Ichikawa, Hiroaki Takeuchi, Ryuta Ishida, Hiroaki Arakawa, Shigeki Kinomura, Keita Hashimoto, Akio Uotani, Kazuyuki Kagawa, Yusuke Kinoshita

Patent number: 10328819Abstract: A fuel cell system and method of controlling the fuel cell system are provided. The fuel cell system includes a fuel cell stack that is configured to receive fuel, and generate electric energy and a fuel supply valve that is configured to adjust pressure of fuel that is supplied to the fuel cell stack. A controller is configured to operate the fuel supply valve to supply fuel of predetermined target pressure to the fuel cell stack, using a difference between the predetermined target pressure and actual pressure of the fuel being supplied. When the actual pressure reaches a steady state from a transient state, the controller applies a smaller gain than in the transient state to determine a first controlled variable based on the difference between the target pressure and the actual pressure of the fuel being supplied.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 2016Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: Hyundai Motor CompanyInventors: GunHyung Park, JunYoung Park

Patent number: 10328820Abstract: A fuel cell system for a vehicle or other system includes a fuel cell stack, a DC-DC boost converter, and a controller. The stack has a plurality of fuel cells and a stack voltage. The controller regulates the stack voltage during start-up of the fuel cell stack via the boost converter, and is programmed with a plurality of calibrated voltage profiles each having a corresponding magnitude and rate of change. The controller is configured to execute a method which includes detecting an air start of the fuel cell stack in response to a requested start-up of the fuel cell stack. The controller then enforces the stack voltage to the predetermined voltage profiles during an actual start-up of the fuel cell stack, doing so via regulation of the boost converter and using the plurality of calibrated voltage profiles.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2017Date of Patent: June 25, 2019Assignee: GM Global Technology Operations LLC.Inventors: Jun Cai, Joseph Castelluccio, Sergio E.
