  • Patent number: 10378307
Abstract: A layer of permeable material is positioned on an area of lost circulation lithology in a wellbore. An example of the permeable material includes a planar member with perforations that is rolled into and retained in an annular configuration. The permeable material is lowered into the wellbore adjacent the area of lost circulation and allowed to unroll and expand radially outward against walls of the wellbore. The wellbore wall along the area of lost circulation lithology can be reamed out so the layer of permeable material is out of the way of a drill bit. Applying a bridging agent on the interface where the permeable material contacts the wellbore wall forms a flow barrier.

  • Patent number: 10378308
Abstract: A liner drilling system and method to at least partially drill a wellbore with a liner and cement the liner in place in the wellbore, in a single downhole trip. An example system includes a liner releasably coupled to a drill string. The drill string extends through an axial bore of the liner and a downhole end includes a bottomhole assembly and a drill bit that rotate to drill a portion of a wellbore. A liner annulus is formed between the drill string and the liner. An annulus isolator is coupled to the liner and isolates flow within the bore of the liner from flowing through at least a portion of a wellbore annulus between the liner and the wellbore. A diverter in the drill string is positioned uphole of the bottomhole assembly and establishes a cement flow path into the liner annulus.

  • Patent number: 10378310
Abstract: Drilling flow control tools may include a tool body having a central bore and bypass ports that allow flow of fluid to an outer surface of the tool body. The drilling flow control tool may also include a control sleeve within the central bore. The control sleeve may restrict fluid flow through the bypass ports when in an inactive state and allow the fluid flow through the bypass ports when in an active state. The drilling flow control tool may further include a release subassembly movably coupled to the tool body. Packer cups coupled to the tool body can act as packoff devices that control passage of fluid along the outer diameter of the tool body. Using the packer cups and control sleeve, fluid flow may be circulated within an inner annulus of a wellbore, an outer annulus of a wellbore, or both.

  • Patent number: 10378311
Abstract: Ported sub openings are controlled by a sliding sleeve assembly. In one variation an external sleeve is pressure actuated with internal pressure to open the ports. After the treatment the ports are closed with a ball landed on an internal sleeve seat and pressure applied from above. In a different arrangement a single internal sleeve is provided that is responsive to tubing pressure to open after breaking a retaining member. After the downhole procedure a ball is landed on a seat on the sleeve and pressure is applied to close the ports with the shifted sleeve and ball moving in tandem. Multiple sliding sleeves can be sequentially operated with sliding sleeves held by retainers that break at sequentially higher pressure moving in an uphole direction.
