  • Patent number: 10378574
Abstract: It has become apparent that the dimensions of inbuilt-collar driving means of the same nominal size may vary according to the method of manufacture. The dimensions of the collar must therefore be adapted to suit the mode of manufacture, at the expense of its strength or mass. Moreover, the transmissible torque for tightening and loosening operations varies according to a useful wrenching height. In order to have a useful height identical to the height of the shank (7), the idea underlying the invention involves pushing the frustoconical collar (152) of a driving means (151) in towards its center along the extension of the sides of the shank. The inbuilt-collar driving means proposed by the invention is suited to all modes of manufacture, and can be manufactured without adversely affecting the dimensions of the driving means or its installation.

  • Patent number: 10378578
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes one or more unopposed cylinder units where each cylinder unit drives the crankshaft via a yoke assembly rather than a conventional connecting rod. The yoke assembly is formed by a connecting rod assembly that can have an upper portion having a connecting member connected to the piston, and a lower portion. The connecting rod assembly moves exclusively along the bore axis of the cylinder, with no side to side motion. The connecting rod assembly also defines a transverse slot in the yoke portion in which a connecting rod bearing housing reciprocates with motion of a connecting rod journal on the crankshaft within the transverse slot. Since the motion of the connecting rod is linear, and the connecting rod bearing housing moves circularly, there are no secondary forces resulting in an inline engine using the unopposed cylinder unit configuration.

  • Patent number: 10378585
Abstract: An assembly providing a bearing, a lubricant and a contamination sensor for determining a level of contamination in the lubricant. The sensor includes an EM wave generator for generating an EM signal, and an EM sensing element arranged in contact with the lubricant. The EM sensing element receives the generated EM signal and transmits an output signal whose properties are responsive to real and imaginary parts of a complex relative permittivity of the lubricant. The output signal is received by an EM measuring device that measures first and second parameters of the output signal, which are respectively representative of the real and imaginary parts of the complex relative permittivity. The EM measuring device determines a level of water contamination in the lubricant, based on the measured first parameter alone and determines a level of metal particle contamination in the grease, based on the measured first and second parameters.

The worm shaft is rotated in one direction about its longitudinal central axis when the drum brake is applied and adjustment is required and in an opposite direction about its longitudinal central axis when the drum brake is released. The slack adjuster further comprises an anti-reversing member having an inner circumferential surface facing the outer circumferential surface of the worm wheel. The anti-reversing member allows rotation of the worm wheel when the drum brake is applied and prevents rotation of the worm wheel when the drum brake is released.

Abstract: An inerter device for a wheel suspension of a vehicle, having an inerter mass and a mechanical inerter drive which is operatively connected to the inerter mass via a coupling device. The coupling device has a control disk connected to the inerter mass and a contour disk connected to the inerter drive. The control disk and contour disk are frictionally in contact with each other via coupling surfaces. The inerter mass is reversibly movable relative to the inerter drive from an operating position into a securing position. The control disk has a contact element which, during the movement of the inerter mass into the securing position, interacts with a mating contact element of the contour disk and therefore reversibly moves the control disk from a coupling position relative to the contour disk into a release position in which the coupling surfaces are separated.

  • Patent number: 10378608
Abstract: A temperature-independent rotation damper 100 is presented. A housing 108 and a piston 102, between which a viscous liquid is located in annular gaps 118, 120, rotate one around the other. When the temperature falls, the damping by the viscous liquid increases. This effect is countered by reducing the effective area which constitutes the braking action, or by enlarging the volume in the annular gaps 118, 120. As the drive, a material having a positive expansion coefficient is used, which material drives a piston 132. In this way, the damping of the rotation damper 100 is broadly practically independent of the temperature.
