Abstract: Disclosed are interbody fusion spacers, or cages, for insertion between adjacent vertebrae. The cages may have integrated and deployable anchors that allow the cage to have a first, insertion configuration characterized by a reduced size to facilitate insertion through a narrow access passage and into the intervertebral space. Once implanted, the anchors of the cages may be deployed to enable better fixation to bone. The cages may promote fusion to further enhance spine stability by immobilizing the adjacent vertebral bodies.

  • Publication number: 20190274841
Abstract: Improved fixation or stabilization of implants is achieved via one or more deployable spikes or anchors. The deployable spikes or anchors may be present in the implant in a nested, collapsed, or retracted position while the implant is inserted into the human body, and may then be deployed (e.g., into adjacent bone) after the implant is in place, thereby fixing the implant's location against unwanted movement. Such fixation or stabilization of the implant may reduce patients' pain, may improve overall short-term and long-term stability of the implant, and may improve osteo-integration into the implant.

Abstract: A lacrimal drug delivery device includes a reservoir configured to hold a drug. The reservoir is moveable between a relaxed state and an expanded state. A connector is fluidly coupled to the reservoir and a lumen is formed in the connector wherein the drug is configured to flow from the reservoir to an delivery site through the lumen. A hydrogel is within the lumen and configured to absorb the drug from the reservoir and deliver the drug from the lumen at the delivery site. The hydrogel includes a first section which absorbs the drug at a first rate of absorption. A delivery guide is detachably coupled to the reservoir to deliver the reservoir into a lacrimal sac of a patient.

Abstract: The patient interface may comprise an axis for alignment with an axis of the eye such as an optical axis of the eye. The interface may comprise a guide to allow the interface to move along the axis with the eye, which can inhibit increases in intraocular pressure when the patient is aligned with the laser. The interface may comprise a lock to hold the patient interface at a location along the axis, which can maintain alignment of the patient with the laser eye surgery system. The interface may comprise a plurality of transducers to measure forces to the eye during surgery. The laser eye surgery system can be configured in one or more of many ways to respond to the measured forces. For example, the system may offset the position of laser beam pulses to increase the accuracy of the placement of the beam pulses on the eye.

Abstract: A treatment device for the surgical correction of hyperopia in the eye comprising a laser device controlled by a control device. The laser device separating corneal tissue by applying laser radiation. The control device controls the laser device for emitting the laser radiation into the cornea such that a lenticule-shaped volume is isolated. Removal thereof effects the desired correction. The control device predefines the volume such that a posterior surface and an anterior surface are connected via an edge surface that has a width in projection along the visual axis that is wider than the one which a straight line in the same projection, that is perpendicular at the edge of the posterior or the anterior surface would have relative to the associated surface and connects the anterior surface to the posterior surface or to the perceived extension thereof.
