Publication number: 20190365570Abstract: Ultra-short pulsed laser radiation is applied to a patient's eye to create a row of bubbles oriented perpendicular to the axis of vision. The row of bubbles leads to a region of the eye to be ablated. In a second step, a femtosecond laser beam guided through the row of bubbles converts it to a channel perpendicular to the axis of vision. In a third step, a femtosecond laser beam is guided through the channel to ablate a portion of the eye. Using a femtosecond laser with intensity in the range of 1011-1015 W/cm2 for the second and third steps facilitates multi-photon ablation that is practically devoid of eye tissue heating. Creating bubbles in the first step increases the speed of channel creation and channel diameter uniformity, thereby increasing the precision of the subsequent multi-photon ablation.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 20, 2019Publication date: December 5, 2019Applicant: The Trustees of Princeton UniversityInventor: Nicholas S. Publication number: 20190365607Abstract: A pill dispenser intended to prevent overmedicating and overdosing on addictive medication. A blister pack is first loaded into the device and then locked within by the pharmacist. The device is then programmed by the pharmacist according to the prescribing physician's prescription. The device will only dispense the appropriate amount of medication to the patient at a designated time interval when the correct fingerprint is scanned. The patient cannot access his or her future dosages until the correct dosing time has elapsed, nor can any other person access the medication within the device. If the fingerprint is that of the patient, a stepper motor can be used to turn the blister pack inside, allowing the striker mechanism to dispense the user's medication.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 5, 2018Publication date: December 5, 2019Inventors: Michael R. Kugler, Jeffrey M. Sgro, Ashumi P. Rokadia, Christopher V. Rodi, Joshua D. Milteer, Matthew S. Detar, Suraj S. Bokil
