Abstract: The present invention provides medical imaging apparatus comprising a primary module for imaging a patient and a supplemental module. A controlling circuitry activates the supplemental module shortly before, during, or shortly after an imaging process using the primary module. Information, data or images of the patient acquired with the supplemental module is registered to the primary image. The invention can aid a radiologist to avoid confusion, mismatching, and other errors when he is reading the primary image; and can help a doctor to establish a correlation between conditions revealed by the primary image, and cutaneous conditions and anatomical change revealed by the supplemental module.

Abstract: A method for imaging the brain of a living patient includes creating and displaying an unconstrained 3D virtual reality image of the brain of the living patient based on a plurality of 3D images captured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). An administration of a drug is simulated into brain tissue. The simulation includes displaying a simulated diffusion of the drug in 3D VR image of the brain; displaying simulated brain tissue uptake of the drug in the 3D VR image of the brain; displaying a simulated stimulation of individual neurons in the 3D VR image of the brain; and analyzing a simulated activity of the individual neurons based on at least one predetermined property of the drug. The method further includes determining a brain treatment protocol based at least in part on the simulated administration of the drug into the brain.

Abstract: This invention provides a non-invasive diagnosis system that is not only capable of producing high-resolution, three-dimensional images of abnormalities of tissue growth inside the body but, it can also detect the type of abnormalities and their location using multispectral imaging techniques. It is possible to provide a portable, non-invasive device that is handheld and with which women may use to screen themselves for early detection of breast cancer without the need to visit a physician. As the present invention uses broadband sources and/or multiple coherent sources, secondary factors such as oxygen metabolism or blood volume associated with the cancer tissues could also be detected to provide further verification of the type. This invention would raise the accuracy of diagnosis and reduce the rate of false positives and false negatives.
