Abstract: An example method includes determining a path to be followed by a vehicle through an environment. The path includes an ordered sequence of positions. The method also includes determining an intersection between a first object in the environment and a first area planned to be occupied by the vehicle while moving along the path and, in response, sequentially testing the ordered sequence of positions to identify a first ordinal position in the ordered sequence of positions, where the first ordinal position corresponds to a second area planned to be occupied by the vehicle while moving along the path, and where the second area is within a threshold distance of the first object. The method additionally includes trimming the path to remove (i) the first ordinal position and (ii) any positions subsequent thereto and causing the vehicle to stop at an end of the trimmed path.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for detecting a road hazard are provided. The method includes acquiring one or more sensor data from one or more sensors. The method further acquires traffic reference information and compares the one or more sensor data with the traffic reference information. A road hazard can be identified based on a comparison result between a first sensor data and the traffic reference information. Further, other sensor data are annotated to be associated with the road hazard. The other sensor data are collected within a same time frame in which the first sensor data captures the road hazard. The first sensor data that captures the road hazard and the other sensor data that are associated with the road hazard is output to a machine learning algorithm. The machine learning algorithm is trained based on the sensor data and deployed to identify a similar road hazard thereafter.

Abstract: Methods and devices for actively modifying a field of view of an autonomous vehicle in view of constraints are disclosed. In one embodiment, an example method is disclosed that includes causing a sensor in an autonomous vehicle to sense information about an environment in a first field of view, where a portion of the environment is obscured in the first field of view. The example method further includes determining a desired field of view in which the portion of the environment is not obscured and, based on the desired field of view and a set of constraints for the vehicle, determining a second field of view in which the portion of the environment is less obscured than in the first field of view. The example method further includes modifying a position of the vehicle, thereby causing the sensor to sense information in the second field of view.

The control module processes the received data with aircraft thrust and drag models to evaluate the aircraft energy state. Based on the aircraft energy state, the control module determines (i) a maximum predicted potential flight path “max PPFP”, defined by a maximum thrust at the target airspeed, and (ii) an idle predicted potential flight path, “idle PPFP,” defined by an idle thrust at the target airspeed. The control module generates display commands for a display system to display (i) the flight path angle, (ii) the max PPFP and (iii) the idle PPFP. In addition, the control module generates and displays a predicted flight path speed indicator (PFPS) when the FPA is above the max PPFP or below the idle PPFP.

Abstract: In one aspect, a system for safely landing a vertical takeoff-and-landing (VTOL) aircraft in the air onto a landing pad on the ground is disclosed. The system can begin by determining an estimated location of the landing pad with a first accuracy. The system then reduces a height of the VTOL aircraft to a first level above the ground while approaching the estimated location of the landing pad. Next, the system determines an updated location of the landing pad with a second accuracy. The system subsequently reduces the height of the VTOL aircraft to a second level above the ground while approaching the updated location of the landing pad. Next, the system aligns a center point of the VTOL aircraft with a center location of the landing pad. Finally, the system lands the VTOL aircraft onto the landing pad by directly lowering the VTOL aircraft onto the landing pad.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to systems and methods of predicting voltages for various contingencies. For example, a monitoring system may include a processor that acquires at least one contingency of an electric power delivery system. The processor may acquire an expected control action based on the at least one contingency from controllers/IEDs. The processor may predict a voltage of at least one bus of the electric power delivery system by simulating the change in the state of the electric power delivery system caused by the expected control action. The processor may determine that the voltage of the at least one bus is predicted to violate one or more operational settings of the electric power delivery system if the at least one contingency were to occur. The processor may provide an indication that the voltage violates the one or more operational settings on a display of the electronic device.

Abstract: Methods for managing non-chatty IoT devices in a network are provided. In one aspect, a method includes receiving classification information identifying that an internet IoT device is connected to a port of a switch and determining that the IoT device has been inactive for a predetermined threshold period of time based on a logoff timer configured for the port. The IoT device is woken up from a power-save mode based on a guaranteed wakeup timer of the IoT device or a Wake-on-LAN packet sent to the IoT device by the switch. The logoff timer is then resent, causing the IoT device to remain in an authenticated state. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.
