Abstract: Introduced here are universal modular attachments that can be attached to medication containers. Because a single modular attachment is typically attachable to medication containers of different sizes, the modular attachment can be referred to as a “universal modular attachment.” For example, some universal modular attachments are attachable to any cylindrical eye drop container having a diameter ranging from 20 millimeters (mm) to 27 mm. A connector ring that substantially matches the diameter of the medication container secures the universal modular attachment to the medication container. The connector ring may be fixedly affixed to the medication container, while the universal modular attachment may be detachably connectable to the connector ring. Each universal modular attachment also includes sensor(s) that are configured to detect administrations of medication.

Abstract: Devices and methods for use in laser-assisted surgery, particularly cataract surgery. Specifically, the use of an optical fiber with a proximal and distal end, wherein the distal end has a non-orthogonal angle with the diameter of the optical fiber, to create an off-axis steam bubble for cutting and removing tissue in an operative region. Where the optical fiber is bent, rotating the fiber creates a circular cutting path for the steam bubble, allowing access to tissues that may normally be blocked by obstructions and obstacles.

Abstract: A mechanism for a reclining having a headrest and a backrest movable with respect to a seat, the backrest being supported by a reclining mechanism which includes an arc fastened to pads sliding in guiding plates, actuated by a motoreducer, and a mobile trapezoidal lever that is mobile backward and forward and that supports a bottom roller that is stationary and a top roller that is integral with the frame of the seat. The rollers are pivotable around axes that are parallel and are perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the chair, so that, simultaneously with the shifting of the pads along the guiding plates, the frame of the seat performs a rheonomous tilting movement, upward or downward of its end corresponding to the anterior end of the chair seat.

Abstract: A pediatric x-ray and examination chair (PXEC) on which a person, particularly a child, can safely and comfortably be placed when an x-ray is being taken or a medical examination is performed. The PXEC has a horizontal seat platform, a rear vertical support extending upward from the back of the seat platform, a right vertical support frame and a left vertical support frame. A front side lower x-ray cartridge support and a rear upper x-ray cartridge support each maintain an x-ray cartridge adjacent a person in the PXEC while an x-ray is taken. A restraining harness with a waist belt and a front center belt secures a child within the PXEC. Located on the seat platform and within slots on each of the vertical support frames are cushions to increase the comfort of a child in the PXEC. In order to provide a calming distraction a simulated animal head, such as a pony or cat, can extend from the front of the PXEC.

Abstract: A measuring method determines the length conditions, the position and/or the radius of movement of the lower extremities of a bed-bound patient. A knee module of a rehabilitation mechanism is connected to a point of application of a leg of the patient. A measuring device records and determines a trajectory solely of the point of application during a movement of the leg by the knee module. A model generation device creates a kinematic model from the data. This allows a determination of the length conditions, the position and/or the radius of movement during an initializing movement without having to undertake any surgical intervention. This does away with the need for complex sensor technology and provides a kinematic model of the radius of movement of the patient, the parameters of which kinematic model are used for establishing new therapeutic procedures within the patient's physical therapy.

Abstract: A neck supporting exoskeleton is configured to be worn by a person to support the person's head during backward extension motions of the person's neck. The neck supporting exoskeleton may comprise a torso frame configured to be coupled to the person's torso, a head pillow configured to contact the rear portion of the person's head during backward extension motions of the person's neck, a linkage allowing for relative motion between the head pillow and the torso frame in the sagittal plane of the person, and an actuator configured to impose a supporting force onto the head pillow. When the person's neck extension angle increases beyond an engagement angle, the actuator causes the linkage to impose a supporting force onto the head pillow resisting the backward extension motion of the head pillow and the person's head relative to the torso frame thereby providing a support for the person's head.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media for treating medical conditions such as neurological disorders. A user device can be used to communicate with a user and can be used to control a treatment device. The treatment device can be an ear pressure treatment device. The system can execute treatment parameter profiles, and selection of the treatment parameter profiles can depend, at least in part, on feedback provided by the user, such as via the user device. One, two, or more nerves associated with target anatomical locations (e.g., one or both ears) can be stimulated. Some embodiments involve combination therapy including stimulating one or more nerves associated with at least one ear with a first stimulus modality, and a second stimulus modality that is the same as, or different from the first stimulus modality.
