Abstract: Techniques for providing extended shipping options are described. In some embodiments, a user may specify extended shipping options that are not otherwise provided by or accessible via an existing shipment information specification user interface. In one embodiment, the user accesses a module configured to facilitate specification of extended shipping options and in response, provide an indicator of the specified extended shipping option, such as a tag or uniform resource identifier. The indicator of the extended shipping option is then incorporated into a user interface element, such as an address field, of the shipment information specification user interface. Once the user finalizes the order, the indicator of the extended shipping option is transmitted along with other shipment information items to a merchant and/or carrier system, where services specified by the extended shipping option are initiated.

An aerial delivery device receives, from the package delivery system computing device, information associated with the delivery location of the package. The delivery device secures the package for transporting to the delivery location and transports the package to the delivery address. The delivery device locates the machine-readable code on a display at the delivery address and verifies that the information from the machine-readable code is associated with the package. The delivery device deposits the package on the display.

Abstract: A method and system for storing and retrieving a packaging hierarchy of traceable physical items includes at an item marking location, marking physical items to be packaged in the packaging hierarchy, with a unique code with a first and second identifier, transferring packaging relationships between the codes to a track and trace system, identifying for each code in the packaging relationships, hierarchical code relations expressed as parent and/or child codes, and for each code, storing the hierarchical code relations in a section of a data storage location of the first computer system, wherein a start position of the section is determined by a combination of the first and second identifiers of the code.

Abstract: A method of determining an inventory mirroring plan for a set of distinct items in a heterogeneous fulfillment network is presented. The fulfillment network can include a plurality of distribution centers, each distribution center having differing capabilities. The method can include determining a solution value of the number of clusters for each distinct item that minimizes a sum of a total shipping cost of each distinct item, subject to a total distinct item capacity of the plurality of distribution centers in the fulfillment network. The method can further include using a probability of the item being placed in a specific distribution center based on either the capacity of the distribution center or historical data. The probability can be used to stock items. Overages and deficits can be used to further refine the distribution. Other embodiments are also disclosed.

Abstract: A system is disclosed for providing retailer controllable access to consolidated inventory management services through a retail worker's personal smartphone. The system—operable largely within and through the retailer's private computing network—comprises data nodes, an enterprise service bus, and a device application. Inventory-related data is kept in the data nodes, with access thereto from suitably provisioned personal mobile devices moderated by the enterprise service bus pursuant to policies and parameters defined by the retailer. Provisioning the personal mobile device involves installation thereon of the device application. The device application launches a user interface for accessing the data nodes through the enterprise service bus, thus enabling the use on the worker's personal mobile device of retailer-specific, job-related inventory management tools.

Abstract: Portals and other chokepoints can be monitored with RFID reader systems. A portion of an RFID reader system capable of generating multiple beams can be mounted between two adjacent chokepoints such that some beams are associated with one chokepoint while other beams are associated with the other chokepoint. When replies from an item are received, the item can be associated with a chokepoint based on parameters or characteristics associated with the replies and/or the beam(s) on which the replies are received. If the detected item is moving, its movement direction through the chokepoint and/or its movement speed may also be determined.

Abstract: A labware inventory tracking and positioning device includes a plurality of labware carriers placed on the top surface of a deck. Each carrier has a permanent magnet therein or thereon. Below the deck, a cursor has a top part that is movable with respect to its bottom part. A permanent magnet, surrounded by a coil, is held in a compartment of the bottom part. Applying current through the coil in a first direction pushes up the cursor permanent magnet to push up the cursor top part into contact with the bottom of the deck, magnetically coupling one of the carrier magnets to the cursor magnet. Once so coupled, the carrier follows the X- and Y-direction movement of the cursor. Applying current in the opposite direction pulls the cursor permanent magnet down to decouple the cursor magnet from the carrier magnet.

Each editing application includes a module enabling it to read the canonical snapshot representation, and also to flatten its native data model representation into the canonical representation for writing to the shared project workspace. A collaboration server hosts the shared project space, and includes a workflow manager for issuing change notifications and handling versions, and an application server for the shared project user interface.

After the user stores the mobile device at that selected storage space, the control closes and locks the door. When the particular user again provides the user input, the control unlocks the door and rotates the carousel to position the selected storage space at the door. The control is operable to track, for each particular user, when the particular user's mobile device is at the carousel and when the particular user's mobile device has been removed from the carousel.

A travel companion application is provided for installation on a remote subscriber computer. Upon entering travel data for a specified trip, a remote server accesses a memory databank of travel companion recommendations and compares the recommendations with the travel data in order to determine whether there exists matching travel data with a potential travel companion. In response to the matching identification, a formatted travel alert is communicated over a wireless communication channel to a destination address. The alert activates an application that both causes display of the alert on a remote device, and provides a URL with connection to the associated data source.

Abstract: A technique for conducting secure financial and informational transactions via portable smart devices is disclosed, in which two transaction devices, e.g. an ATM and a smartphone or other smart connected device are both substantially simultaneously accessible by the user and are both independently connected with the account server by a secure connection between the transaction device for the ATM and a secure connection between the smartphone and a cellphone tower. Thus, authentication is provided by secure login on the two devices, i.e. the transaction device and the cellphone. Once the devices are both connected to the account server, handshaking between the two devices to confirm pairing of the right two devices is prompted, at which point, a transaction may proceed.

Abstract: A device receives receipt data of a receipt of a transaction for a product, and processes, using a term matching technique, the receipt data to identify transaction information including a transaction date and product information. The device determines that the transaction caused a user to be covered by or eligible for a warranty for the product, generates a tag identifying the product, and associates, using a data structure, the product information, data identifying the warranty, and the tag with a record of the transaction that is accessible via a program that allows the user to search for the receipt or terms of the warranty. The store may have a pick-up area (e.g., at the back of the store) where the customer can go to pick up the ordered item. To save the customer time, the customer may be identified when she enters the store so that an employee can obtain her ordered item and have it ready to pick up by the time the customer walks through the store and arrives at the pick-up area. To identify the customer, an initiation device may transmit a first signal that causes the customer's mobile electronic device to respond by transmitting a second signal, which may be utilized to generate a notification in the pick-up area notifying an employee to obtain the ordered item for pick-up.

Abstract: A provisioning system for enabling a mobile communication device to operate as a financial presentation device (FPD) presentable to providers of goods or service is provided. The provisioning system relies on a transaction processing system that normally routes authorization requests from merchants to issuers of FPDs for purposes of authorizing FPD transactions. The transaction processing system stores security keys of all issuers in order to validate transaction data sent from the merchants. The provisioning system monitors authorization requests routed through the transaction processing system and retrieves an authorization request of a financial transaction initiated with a particular FPD. The provisioning system then transmits the FPD data contained in the retrieved authorization request and the security key stored in the transaction processing system to a secure memory element of the mobile communication device to enable the mobile communication device to operate as a FPD.

Abstract: A system for provisioning credentials onto an electronic device is provided. The user device may include a secure element and a corresponding trusted processor. A contactless registry service (CRS) applet running on the secure element may be used to manage the activation of one or more associated payment applets during a mobile payment transaction. The CRS applet may include at least a user input received flag and an authorization received flag. The user input received flag may be asserted in response to detecting a required user input for initiating payment. The authorization received flag may be asserted when the trusted processor sends an activation request to the secure element. A payment applet should only be activated when at least one of the user input received flag and the authorization received flag has been asserted.

The first device selects a first configuration and implements a hashing function from the selected configuration. A hash value is generated and transmitted to the second device. The second device has hashing configurations stored on a memory. A processor in the second device selects the first hashing configuration to implement the hash function from the first configuration and generates a hash value. The hash values generated on the first device and generated on the second device are compared to determine an action. The first configuration is disabled and a new configuration is retrieved. At least 4 and more preferably at least 5 different n-state functions with n>2 are used in a hash function.

In use, a digital wallet with a plurality of transactions to process is identified. Further, a plurality of digital proxy-wallets are associated with the digital wallet. Additionally, digital currency from the digital wallet is allocated to the plurality of digital proxy-wallets. Moreover, the plurality of transactions are automatically processed in parallel utilizing the plurality of proxy-wallets such that the transactions are processed against the digital wallet.

Abstract: A method of authenticating and exchanging virtual currency is used to permit secure ownership of virtual currency and manage financial transactions. The method is performed by a system that includes a user computing device and plurality of remote servers. The user computing device stores an unverified certificate which is used as currency. The plurality of remote servers is used to authenticate the unverified certificate and aid in transferring ownership of the unverified certificate. To do so, each remote server executes an authentication process for the unverified certificate and sends either a pass status or a fail status to the user computing device. The user computing device executes an assessment process for the unverified certificate based on the pass statuses and fail statuses received. Authentication information related to the unverified certificate is then updated on the user computing device and each remote server that returned the pass status.

Abstract: Systems and methods for securely storing digital assets using a secure portal are disclosed. Using an isolated computer within an electronic isolation chamber, a plurality of digital asset accounts may be generated, and one or more private keys and a digital asset account identifier corresponding to each of the digital asset accounts may be obtained. A respective reference identifier may be associated with each digital asset account. At least one of the one or more private keys corresponding to each digital asset account may be divided into a plurality of private key segments and written to a card along with the respective reference identifier to create sets of collated cards, wherein each set comprises cards corresponding to different private keys.

Abstract: In a payment-enabled smartphone, a customer verification method (CVM) may be performed without prompting the user to provide any input. An outcome of the resulting passive CVM process may be an input to a risk based decision process performed by the smartphone, by a point of sale terminal and/or by an issuer of a payment card account accessed via the payment-enabled smartphone. The risk based decision process may determine whether a payment transaction is approved or declined.

Abstract: Disclosed is a system and method for biometric authentication of a user using a personalised identification and associated biometric data. In one embodiment, a plurality of personalised identifiers and biometric data may be captured from a number of users and stored in a repository as stored records. The authentication process may be divided into two phases. In the first phase, either a speech recognition or character recognition process may be applied in order to determine the text spoken or written by the user. Subsequently a few records may be fetched from the repository on the basis of text mapping. In the second phase, biometric authentication may be performed by comparing the biometric sample with the stored biometric data corresponding to the fetched records to uniquely identify a single user. Further a machine learning technique may be applied in order to periodically refine a plurality of models stored in the repository.

Abstract: The evaluation system provides a real-time mechanism for auditing purchase request transactions prior to the purchase being completed in order to determine if one or more audit parameters are violated and the transaction should not be completed. An electronic product request can be received from a merchant of the product. The request can identify at least the merchant, the party, and the product requested for purchase. One or more business rules and auditing parameters for auditing the request can be identified based on the identity of the merchant. The contents of the request can then be audited to determine if the request satisfies the audit parameters. The contents of the request can also be used to identify historical transactions for the party, which can be used to determine if the current request violates one or more of the audit parameters.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus, method and computer program product for a registry, such as a UDDI registry, to restrict access to business entity definitions contained in the registry according to permission details associated with the business service definition. A business entity definition may comprise a plurality of information elements. Permission details, which define users or groups of users with permission to access the information element, are then associated with one or more of these information elements. When a user request is received to access a business entity definition access is restricted to only those information elements for which the user has the required permission.
