  • Patent number: 10716022
Abstract: Systems and methods for calculating uplink pathloss in a wireless local area network are provided. Uplink pathloss between an access point and client device operating in the wireless local area network can be calculated based on determining an effective maximum transmit power. Based on the effective maximum transmit power, and known uplink power headroom, a current transmit power of the client device can be determined. Based on the current transmit power of the client device, uplink pathloss can be determined. If the operating conditions and/or characteristics of the client device and/or wireless local area network change, the uplink pathloss may be re-evaluated.

  • Patent number: 10716033
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring a session from a packet switched access network to a circuit switched access network. A Mobility Management Entity receives a service type indicator from a gateway node. The service type indicator indicates a type of service for the session, and is associated with bearers used for the session. The Mobility Management Entity subsequently receives, from an eNodeB, an indication that the session is to be transferred from the packet switched network to the circuit switched access network. The Mobility Management Entity determines the bearers associated with the session using the service type indicator, and initiates transfer of the session using those bearers. This ensures that the correct bearers are transferred regardless of whether or not identifiers such as QCI values have been ascribed to other types of service.

Abstract: Battery life of a user equipment (UE) can be extended when the UE is roaming internationally in a country that has multiple carrier networks each utilizing multiple public land mobile network (PLMN) identifiers. Scan control tables, stored in a universal integrated circuit card (UICC) of the UE, are populated with the identifiers of a PLMN having the highest priority in a defined area (e.g., Circle). A roaming control applet of the UICC can compare serving cell data with the scan control tables to determine if the UE is to perform a higher priority (HP) PLMN search. Utilization of the scan control table avoids unnecessary searches for HPPLMNs that are unavailable in the UE's current location and accordingly extends battery life of the UE.

Abstract: Provided is a method for managing terminals by a base station when a plurality of networks coexist. Specifically, in a wireless communication system where a first network coexists with a second network, the terminal management method of a base station of the first network may include: receiving coexistence information from a first network management apparatus managing the base station, and examining the coexistence information; generating time information that is needed by a user equipment attached to the first network to access a third network on the basis of the coexistence information; and sending a message containing the time information to the user equipment. Thereby, it is possible to operate WiMAX and TD-LTE simultaneously while using a CDMA network for a voice service.

Abstract: Techniques for a link budget limited UE to improve communications performance with cellular networks are disclosed. The UE may be associated with subscriptions to multiple carriers and may connect to a cell of a first carrier. The UE may detect that received signal strength from the cell is below a threshold and search for a new cell that may be of a different carrier. The UE may store a PLMN eSIM priority look up table and the search may be based on the look up table. Additionally, the UE may track received signal strength and geographic location in a first data structure that the UE may send to a server. The UE may receive a second data structure from the server that includes received signal strength at geographic locations compiled from a plurality of UEs, including the UE. The UE may also use the second data structure in searches for a new cell.

  • Patent number: 10716064
Abstract: A network of nodes includes data nodes and at least one sink node to exchange packets between the sink node and the data nodes in a multi-hop manner. The data nodes include a battery powered node (BPN) having a transceiver, a memory, and a battery to provide energy to components of the BPN. The BPN includes a processor to determine a sleep schedule of the BPN independently from the sleep schedules of other data nodes and independently from commands transmitted by the sink node. The processor of the BPN switches the transceiver ON and OFF according to the sleep schedule to form an active period and a sleep period of the BPN. Also, the processor partitions at least part of the active period into a receiving (RX) period and a transmission (TX) period and causes the transceiver to transmit the data packets only during the TX period.

Abstract: Embodiments of a high efficiency subchannel selective transmission (HE SST) access point (AP) and an HE SST station (STA) are generally described herein. The HE SST AP may determine a temporary primary channel for an HE SST STA. The HE SST AP may communicate with the HE SST STA in a plurality of channels that includes the temporary primary channel and further includes a primary channel. The HE SST AP may determine trigger-enabled target wake time service periods (TWT SPs) for exchange of frames between the HE SST AP and the HE SST STA on the temporary primary channel. The trigger-enabled TWT SPs may be determined to not overlap with target beacon transmission times (TBTTs) at which beacon frames that include delivery traffic indication maps (DTIMs) are to be sent on the primary channel by the HE SST AP.

  • Patent number: 10716067
Abstract: Embodiments described herein provide a method for transmitting a wake-up radio signal to low power devices in a wireless local area network. Data for transmission to a wireless device is received at a wireless access point, and a wake-up radio packet is generated. The wake-up signal includes a first preamble, a second preamble, and payload data including a wake-up user identifier assigned to the wireless device. The wake-up radio packet is encoded into an encoded wake-up radio frame including a plurality of encoded data symbols representing modulated payload data. The encoded wake-up radio frame is modulated onto a modulated waveform for transmission. A signal corresponding to the modulated waveform is transmitted to the wireless device.

Abstract: A wireless device determines a total transmission power for transmission of uplink signals in a subframe of subframes of an uplink transmission burst. A transmission power value of an uplink signal of the uplink signals is scaled, based on a subframe position of the subframe in the subframes of the uplink transmission burst, in response to the total transmission power exceeding a first value so that an updated total transmission power does not exceed the first value. The uplink signal is transmitted in the subframe and with the transmission power value.

  • Patent number: 10716071
Abstract: A radio node may transmit a signal using a transmit power. Then, the radio node may adjust the transmit power within a range of values. The adjustment may include reducing the transmit power when a spatial received signal strength indication (RSSI) metric of the radio node is greater than a first threshold value and a coverage criterion is met. Note that the spatial RSSI metric of the radio node may correspond to a set of temporal RSSI metrics of the radio node received from neighboring radio nodes. Moreover, the coverage criterion may be that less than a portion of RSSI measurements of the radio node associated with electronic devices, which are communicatively attached with the radio node, is less than a second threshold value. Alternatively, the adjustment may include increasing the transmit power when the spatial RSSI metric is less than the first threshold value.
