  • Patent number: 10709564
Abstract: The invention relates to a knee endoprosthesis comprising a femoral component (1) which has two condylar surfaces (1a, 1b) for anchoring on the distal femur, comprising a tibial component (2) for anchoring on the proximal tibia, and comprising sliding surfaces between the two components (1, 2). It is proposed according to the invention that the entire femoral component (1), but at least its condylar surfaces (1a, 1b) are made of a solidly sintered ceramic for articulation with the tibial component (2), so that the knee endoprosthesis will have the least possible amount of abrasion with optimal reproduction of the anatomical and kinematic properties of the natural knee joint, in particular through suitable combinations of materials and by reducing the abrasion-generating surfaces.

  • Patent number: 10709567
Abstract: A bone fusion implant is provided for treating conditions of Proximal Interphalangeal (PIP), Distal interphalangeal (DIP), and metatarsophalangeal (MTP) foot joints. The bone fusion implant may be a cortical bone allograft sized to fuse the foot joint to be treated. A proximal portion of the implant may be pressed into a hole drilled in a proximal bone portion of the foot joint, and a distal portion of the implant may be pressed into a hole drilled in a distal bone portion of the foot joint. Ramps on the proximal and distal portions facilitate press-fitting the implant into the holes in the bone portions. Side ramps ensure that the bone fusion implant remains substantially aligned with the foot joint while the distal portion is pressed into the hole into the distal bone portion. Grooves on the ramps alleviate pressure and ease inserting the implant into the holes in the bone portions.

  • Patent number: 10709571
Abstract: A joint spacer therapeutically maintains separation of bones of a joint. A carriage is slideably retained within the frame and has at least one ramped surface. An actuator screw is threadably engaged with the frame, and rotatably connected to the carriage, to cause the carriage to slideably move within the frame when the actuator screw is rotated. First and second endplates engage the bones of the joint, and each has at least one ramped surface that is mateable with the ramped surface of the carriage, whereby when the carriage is slideably moved by rotation of the actuator screw, the endplates ramped surface slides against the carriage ramped surface to cause the endplates to move along an axis transverse to the longitudinal axis of the frame, to increase the height of the spacer. Piercing elements are connected to the carriage to pierce bone of the joint when the carriage is moved.

Abstract: Systems and methods for setting one or more parameters for a multi-test-period titration for oral appliance therapy are described herein. A method can include performing a titration for oral appliance therapy during a first test period, identifying a variable associated with the titration performed during the first test period, and setting a parameter for a titration for oral appliance therapy to be performed during a second test period. The parameter can be dependent on the variable associated with the titration performed during the first test period. The method can also include performing the titration for oral appliance therapy during the second test period, and establishing an outcome of oral appliance therapy based on the titrations performed during the first and second test periods.

Abstract: A temperature regulating device for a user's neck includes a housing that extends about the neck and has a base portion, and first and second side portions. The side portions each have an air duct extending from an air inlet to an air outlet in communication with air inlets of an air duct within the base portion. Two thermoelectric are devices located within each of the side portions. Each thermoelectric device is in thermal connection with a cold space member at exterior sides of the side portions for contacting the lateral sides of the neck. Two fans within the base portion are configured to pull air through the side portions past the thermoelectric devices to the base portion and out through the air outlets of the base portion. Only the side portions of the housing selectively heat and cool the neck near pulse points of the neck.

  • Patent number: 10709605
Abstract: Assemblies and methods for modifying an intraocular pressure of a patient's one or both eyes are disclosed. The assemblies and methods can be used to treat, inhibit, or prevent ocular conditions such as glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, optic disc edema, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, zero-gravity induced papilledema, and other optic pressure related conditions. An assembly can include a goggle including at least one cavity, a pump in fluid communication with the at least one cavity, and a control mechanism. The control mechanism can be operatively coupled to the pump and can maintain a target pressure or target pressure range in the at least one cavity, which, when the assembly is worn by a patient, is the area between a patient's eye(s) and wall surfaces of the goggle. Controlling the pressure over the outer surfaces of the patient's eye(s) can drive a desired change in the intraocular pressure of the eye(s).

  • Patent number: 10709606
Abstract: A method of modifying a refractive profile of an eye having an intraocular device implanted therein, wherein the method includes determining a corrected refractive profile for the eye based on an initial refractive profile, identifying one or more locations within the intraocular device based on the corrected refractive profile, and directing a pulsed laser beam at the locations to produce the corrected refractive profile. A system of modifying an intraocular device located within an eye, wherein the system includes a laser assembly and a controller coupled thereto. The laser assembly outputs a pulsed laser beam having a pulse width between 300 picoseconds and 10 femtoseconds. The controller directs the laser assembly to output the pulsed laser beam into the intraocular device. One or more slip zones are formed within the intraocular device in response thereto, and the slip zones are configured to modify a refractive profile of the intraocular device.

  • Patent number: 10709607
Abstract: A process for preventing or treating myopia includes applying a pulsed energy, such as a pulsed laser beam, to tissue of an eye having myopia or a risk of having myopia. The source of pulsed energy has energy parameters including wavelength or frequency, duty cycle and pulse train duration, which are selected so as to raise an eye tissue temperature up to eleven degrees Celsius to achieve therapeutic or prophylactic effect, such as stimulating heat shock protein activation in the eye tissue. The average temperature rise of the eye tissue over several minutes is maintained at or below a predetermined level so as not to permanently damage the eye tissue.
