Abstract: A power supply device for wire electric discharge machining includes: a first DC power supply; first switching elements between the first DC power supply and a machining gap; a second DC power supply; a second switching element between the second DC power supply and the machining gap; and a pulse generator controlling the first and second switching elements. The pulse generator is configured so that, in order to generate an electric discharge in the machining gap, the second switching element is switched on and the voltage of the second DC power supply is applied to the machining gap; the first switching element is switched on intermittently at a predetermined frequency in response to an electric discharge generation detection signal, and a series of current pulses is fed to the machining gap. The feeding of the series of current pulses is discontinued when the current pulses don't reach a reference current.

  • Patent number: 10730131
Abstract: Various embodiments may be generally directed to a welding system that monitors an output of the welding system to determine if an output arc should be extinguished or maintained. The welding system can compare an arc voltage output to a voltage threshold and a temporal threshold. When the arc voltage output exceeds the voltage threshold in an uninterrupted manner for the duration of the temporal threshold, an output weld current can be stopped. In turn, the output arc can be broken or extinguished. After a predetermined amount of time, the power source can be re-engaged to prepare for re-ignition of another arc. By tracking the amount of time the arc voltage output exceeds the predetermined threshold, a probability of unwanted arc outs can be reduced or minimized while still providing quick and reliable arc breaking when desired.

  • Patent number: 10730134
Abstract: The spot welding method of the present invention has steps of preliminary conduction, first conduction, second conduction, and third conduction: Preliminary conduction: Conduction method aimed at improving closeness of contact surfaces of steel sheets and reducing sheet gaps by gradually increasing the welding current (for example, upslope conduction). If rapidly applying current, current would be locally carried and that part would melt resulting in expulsion, so this is a conduction method gradually running current (for example upslope conduction) to avoid local heating. First conduction: Conduction method running a constant welding current and using the heat generated by the electrical contact resistance between steel sheets to cause the formation of a nugget when preliminary conduction results in close contact surfaces between the steel sheets.

  • Patent number: 10730141
Abstract: Plastic parts are welded in a laser welding system. An infrared laser source in a laser chamber is controlled by a controller using closed-loop feedback control with a corrected feedback signal that is compensated for background infrared radiation in the laser chamber. Prior to the infrared laser source being turned on, the controller senses with the optical sensor an intensity of background infrared radiation in the laser chamber. Once the laser is on, the controller senses with the optical sensor an intensity of infrared laser radiation in the laser chamber. The controller calculates the corrected feedback signal by subtracting the intensity of the background infrared radiation sensed when the infrared laser source was off from the intensity of the infrared laser radiation sensed when the infrared laser source is on.
