  • Publication number: 20200260635
Abstract: A disc opener unit for an agricultural implement has a down pressure adjustment device that automatically adjusts the amount of down pressure applied on a furrowing disc based on strain measurements taken by a strain gauge or load cell. The strain gauge, which may be mounted to an arm that is used to set the position of a depth setting gauge wheel, provides feedback to a processor that in turn controls the amount of hydraulic fluid in a hydraulic cylinder to adjust the down force applied on the disc. The amount of down pressure is therefore adjusted in substantially real-time in response to changes in field conditions, which improves furrow depth consistency and reduces wear on the gauge wheel and its components.

Abstract: An aquaponics system utilizing_portable hydroponic growing apparatus suspended over an aquatic holding vessel. The vessel is filled with water and stocked with aquatic organisms. A pump of sufficient lift connects to plumbing which runs over the top of the portable hydroponic apparatus. The hydroponics apparatus are suspended directly over the water vessel in such a way that the water drips back into the holding vessel below. Drip rate control emitters maybe installed to regulate the flow of water from the pump. This embodiment works well for low to medium intensity production. For higher intensity production, dedicated filtration and aeration devices are added.

Abstract: Prior art technology has a problem in that when a plant is cultivated for a long period of time on a PVA film having its lower surface positioned in contact with a nutrient fluid, plant roots that have formed penetrate through the film. A plant cultivation system wherein the PVA film has an equilibrium degree of swelling in the range of from 125 to 250% as measured in water at 30° C. and has a loss tangent (tan ?) in the range of from 0.005 to 0.2 as measured in an equilibrium swollen state in water at 30° C., and a method for cultivating a plant by using this plant cultivation system. Plant cultivation can be performed for a long period of time while avoiding infection by bacteria and the like causative of plant diseases. Therefore, the present invention is useful in, e.g., agriculture and the manufacture of pharmaceuticals.
