  • Patent number: 10774927
Abstract: A method for detecting an oil leakage of a main pump during a stopping process of an internal combustion engine, where the oil leakage is caused by a reversal of a direction of rotation of a crankshaft of a vehicle including an electric auxiliary pump and the main pump, where the main pump is driven by the internal combustion engine of the vehicle. The method includes determining whether a rotational speed of the electric auxiliary pump exceeds a predefined threshold value, and when the rotational speed of the electric auxiliary pump exceeds the predefined threshold value for the rotational speed, detecting that the main pump is leaking, recording an error in an error memory of the vehicle, and demanding an engine start.

The backing ring and the vacuum ring form a rigid base against which mating flanges on pipes can be bolted together, thereby preventing bending of the mating flanges and permitting flange bolts to be torqued to their full tensile load limit without damage to the mating flanges. The O-ring seal system is constructed so that the O-ring seal is retained between the mating flanges without the need to position the O-ring seal in a groove in one of the mating flanges. Bending of the flanges is minimized since the flanges are clamped against the backing ring, minimizing stresses due to bending, thereby extending the service life of the flanges.

  • Patent number: 10774963
Abstract: A method is provided for forming a gasket for sealing opposing flange surfaces of a pipe having corrosive fluid flowing therethrough. The method comprises defining a gasket profile incorporating a serrated profile core having a flange extending radially inward therefrom. A deformable pillow extends radially inward from the serrated profile core, to define a gasket intermediate portion about the flange, and a gasket inner portion radially inward from the flange. The deformable pillow material and thickness are selected such that upon compression to a thickness no less than the core thickness, the gasket inner portion exhibits a stress level sufficient to preclude corrosive liquid flowing through the pipe from passing radially outward beyond the gasket inner portion, and the gasket intermediate portion exhibits a stress level sufficient to preclude gas and liquid flowing through the pipe from passing radially outward beyond the gasket intermediate portion.
