  • Patent number: 10813009
Abstract: A light-weight solution for media handovers between different Radio Access Technologies (RAT) is provided. A user may switch from Wi-Fi to Cellular Data (e.g., LTE/4G/3G/ . . . ), from Cellular data to Wi-Fi, and the like. In contrast to a “make-before-break” design for switching between RATs, the technologies described herein are a “break-before-make” design. When a change in a RAT is detected, an application on the computing device utilizing the connection is notified of the change. Instead of removing connection information, the connection is maintained for a configurable period of time such that the application can re-register with the network to continue the communication session. During a transition to a second RAT, the application provides one or more notifications to the user of the change in RAT. For instance, a graphical user interface (GUI) can be displayed showing the change and/or a tone can be played indicating the change in the RAT.

  • Patent number: 10813014
Abstract: A radio network device, having a narrowband receiver and operative in a wireless communication network, exploits the periodicity of transmission of network sync signals by iteratively receiving a plurality of frequency-offset portions of the sync signal, and then assembling the portions to recreate the entire sync signal. The recreated sync signal is then processed to attempt network detection and synchronization. In some embodiments, frequency/time compensation may be applied to the received and stored sync signal portions, prior to their combination, to compensate for uncertainty in the frequency drift (and time drift due to frequency error) of the sync signal location.

Abstract: In a cellular communications network including user equipment and an access network, a cell-blocking method involves designating a cell in the network that is to be blocked and activating a cell-blocking operating mode of a node of the access network of the cellular communications network. According to the cell-blocking method, upon activation of the cell-blocking mode of the access-network node, active calls in the designated cell are detected and disconnected. The disconnection of active calls may be performed selectively based on an access class or establishment cause associated with the call. The cell-blocking may be hidden because the access-network node may not broadcast any data that is indicative of cell-blocking and, when a user equipment in the affected cell attempts to set-up a call, the access-network node may reject the call using an admission control mechanism or may send back a spoofed message from the core network.

Abstract: Performing wireless transmissions over a unified air interface that span portions of both the primary band and the complementary band may provide improved throughput and spectral efficiency in next generation networks. Wireless transmissions spanning both the licensed and unlicensed spectrum carry data in different frame formats over the respective primary and complementary bands. For example, frames communicated over the primary band may have a different channel structure (e.g., different size, placement, orientation, etc.) than frames communicated over the complementary band. Wireless transmissions spanning the licensed and unlicensed spectrum may also utilize different access schemes and/or waveforms over the respective primary and complementary bands. Embodiment unified air interfaces may be dynamically configurable via software defined radio (SDR) signaling instructions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to the communications field, and disclose an AC, a STA, an AP, and a control method to solve a problem that a STA located in a coverage hole area of a Wi-Fi network cannot access the Wi-Fi network. A specific solution is: a receiving unit receives an access request message sent by a STA; a determining unit determines, sleeping APs managed by the AC and having access ranges covering the STA as first candidate APs; an allocation unit allocates the first candidate AP to the STA as a target AP; and a sending unit sends a wake-up control message to the target AP, and sends an access permission message to the STA. The present invention is used in a control process.

Abstract: A wireless user equipment (UE) device may include a receiver and transmitter. The UE device may dynamically vary the fidelity requirements imposed on the analog signal processing performed by the receiver and/or the transmitter in response factors such as: amount of signal interference (e.g., out-of-band signal power); modulation and coding scheme; number of spatial streams; extent of transmitter leakage; and size and/or frequency location of resources allocated to the UE device. Thus, the UE device may consume less power on average than a UE device that is designed to satisfy fixed fidelity requirements associated with a worst case reception scenario and/or a worst case transmission scenario.

Abstract: A first wireless communication terminal includes a first communicator, a second communicator, a first memory, and a processor. When first time information is received by the second communicator, the processor switches a state of the first communicator from first state to a second state at a first switching time calculated on the basis of the first time information. The processor switches the state of the first communicator from the second state to the first state at a second switching time calculated on the basis of the first time information. The first time information is information regarding a next scanning time indicating a time at which scanning is to be next performed by a second wireless communication terminal.

The UE receives L reference signal groups transmitted by L antenna port sets respectively; receives R first signaling(s) for determining R first offset(s); and then transmits a first radio signal for determining K difference value(s) corresponding to K first reference power value(s) respectively, each of which is linearly correlated to a sum of the R first offset(s). Measurement(s) on K reference signal group(s) is (are) respectively used for determining K first reference power value(s). A transmitting power of the first radio signal is a first power associated with a first reference signal group, which is one of the K reference signal group(s). All of the L antenna port sets are used for one same serving cell or carrier. The disclosure helps improve power control performance and reduce overhead.

Abstract: Disclosed are an uplink resource allocation method and a cognitive small cell network system performing the method. In the method, a small cell manager collects an access request from a small cell user and forms a preference relationship for each small cell user. Then, sub-channel-specific transmission power for providing a maximum data transmission rate at the time of uplink transmission is calculated and the calculated sub-channel-specific transmission power information is transferred to the small cell user. Meanwhile, the small cell user forms all possible sub-channel-specific preference relations and thereafter, transmits the access request for each sub-channel having a maximum preference relationship to the small cell manager.

A wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) scanning operation is performed through a Wi-Fi scanning unit to obtain N feedback durations corresponding to N access points (APs). The first AP is any one of the N APs and N is an integer greater than one. When an access instruction for the second AP is detected, first power of information transmission is determined according to a feedback duration corresponding to the second AP. The first power is equal to second power plus a first power variable, where a value of the first power variable is greater than zero when the feedback duration corresponding to the second AP is within a preset duration range. An access request is transmitted to the second AP at the first power. A terminal device is also provided.
