  • Patent number: 10845038
Abstract: A twist-and-lock mounting bracket may secure a lighting fixture to a mounting surface. The twist-and-lock mounting bracket may define an aperture having features corresponding to the shape of a twist-and-lock element disposed on a housing of a lighting fixture. Accordingly, the twist-and-lock element may be configured to extend through the aperture while the corresponding features of the twist-and-lock element and the aperture are aligned. The housing may then be rotated such that the tabs do not align with the corresponding features of the aperture, and the twist-and-lock element is thereby prevented from sliding through the aperture. The mounting bracket may be secured to a junction box positioned within a mounting surface, or it may be secured to a biasing bracket having one or more second resilient members configured to engage the interior of a recessed can light, such that the lighting fixture may be secured to the recessed can light.

  • Patent number: 10845052
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to systems and methods for high flame temperature oxy-combustion that enables the capture of CO2 cost effectively. One part of the presently disclosed subject matter comprises an annular shroud burner which utilizes a supply of undiluted oxygen and minimal flue gas recycle to generate a high flame temperature to maximize efficiency. The annular shroud burner may deliver oxygen into a combustion zone where mixing of the oxygen and a stream of fuel occurs. Flue gas recycled from the exit of the combustion system serves the dual purpose of conveying the coal into the reaction zone, as well as providing local cooling and protection from high incident heat fluxes through the novel shroud cooling design. The annular shroud burner may be configured to produce an axial jet flame that controls the rate of mixing of oxygen and fuel, thereby extending the heat release. Oxygen and coal may be mixed in a ratio such that peak flame temperatures exceed 4,500° F. (2,482° C.

  • Patent number: 10845070
Abstract: An extremum-seeking control system for a plant includes a feedback controller for operating the plant to achieve a value of a manipulated variable, and an extremum-seeking controller. The extremum-seeking controller is configured to provide the value of the manipulated variable to the feedback controller and to determine a value for the manipulated variable. The extremum-seeking controller determines the value for the manipulated variable by perturbing the manipulated variable with an excitation signal and monitoring a performance variable of the plant resulting from the perturbed manipulated variable, estimating a normalized correlation coefficient relating the performance variable to the manipulated variable, and modulating the manipulated variable to drive the normalized correlation coefficient toward zero using a general set of tuning parameters. The general set of tuning parameters are adapted for use with the normalized correlation coefficient, independent of a scale of the performance variable.

  • Patent number: 10845076
Abstract: A method of operating a diagnostic data collection device and a diagnostic data bus for an HVAC system are disclosed. In an embodiment, the diagnostic data collection device includes a diagnostic communication interface and a flexible interface module. The interface module measures electrical properties associated with an HVAC component. Electrical properties may include a sensor output and may include analog and digital signals. The diagnostic data collection device generates an exception message if the sensed property is out of specification. Evaluation rules are provided to detect various types of failures, including transient failures, steady state failures, and trending failures. The diagnostic data collection device self-calibrates by recording electrical properties during normal operation of the HVAC equipment. A plurality of diagnostic data collection devices may be coupled by a diagnostic data bug independent of the HVAC system's control bus, to ensure operational integrity of the diagnostic system.

  • Patent number: 10845077
Abstract: Methods and systems for monitoring multiple sensors over a distributed sensor network to enhance various monitoring operations. In some implementations, an identification of a sensor located in a property and a token that enables the mobile device to obtain data from the sensor are each received by a mobile device from a server. The mobile device is then determined to be within a communication range with the server that is indicated by the identification from the server. In response, data is obtained from the sensor by the mobile device using the token received from the server.

  • Patent number: 10845079
Abstract: Systems and techniques are described for alerting individuals of HVAC system issues in their home. In some implementations, a monitoring system monitors a property that includes sensors located throughout the property and generates sensor data. A monitor control unit receives thermostat data from a thermostat that indicates activity of the HVAC system and temperature history of the property. The monitor control unit applies the thermostat and the sensor data to an HVAC model that is trained using past sensor data, past thermostat data, past errors of the HVAC system. The monitor control unit determines an error of the HVAC system from the HVAC model output. The monitor control unit determines an action for correcting the error of the HVAC system. The monitor control unit provides, for output, data identifying the error of the HVAC system and the action for correcting the error of the HVAC system.
