Abstract: Systems, methods and apparatus for automated vehicle wheel removal and replacement are provided. One system includes a computer system with applications for scheduling the replacement of tires for the vehicle. An electronically controlled lift device and robotic apparatus is configured for interaction with the computer system. The lift device mechanically adjusts arms for placement on lift points of vehicles. The robotic apparatus detects positioning of lug nut configuration for a wheel, removes lug nuts, and then removes the wheel from the wheel hub with gripping arms. The wheel and tire are then handed off to a separate tire changing machine. When a new tire is replaced the robotic apparatus then mounts the wheel to the original wheel hub, and then secures the lug nuts to the lug nut bolts.

A first wheel is mechanically linked to a second wheel by a cross tie, so that motion from an impact with an obstacle by the first wheel is transmitted to the second wheel. A shock absorber may be coupled to each wheel, the cross tie, or both, to distribute absorption of the impact. In some embodiments, a second pair of wheels may be coupled by a second cross tie and configured diagonally to the first pair of wheels. A shock absorber may be coupled to both cross ties to link all wheels together, for full distribution of all loads across all wheels.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for cooling a seat 14 surface, comprising at least one cushion, plurality of flexible metallic heat exchangers and optionally a cushioning layer. The metal heat exchangers are thin flexible metal sheets 18a, 18b with high thermal conductivity and a preferable thickness in the range of 0.05 mm and 10 mm. These are incorporated in the cushion, wherein the conduit is bonded, soldered or brazed to thin flexible metal sheet 18a, 18b acting as continued or intermittent conduit, with fluid, for cooling the metallic heat exchangers. The present system allows lowering of the total temperature difference improving the coefficient of performance of the refrigeration system that supplies the cooled fluid, leading to a smaller, lighter cold water supply system that also consumes less power and performs direct cooling of an occupant's body.
