Abstract: The present invention provides an analog-digital hybrid architecture, which performs 256 multiplications and additions at a time. The system comprises 256 Processing Elements (PE) (108), which are arranged in a matrix form (16 rows and 16 columns). The digital inputs (110) are converted to analog signal (114) using digital to analog converters (DAC) (102). One PE (108) produces one analog output (115) which is nothing but the multiplication of the analog input (114) and the digital weight input (112). The implementation of PE is done by using i) capacitors and switches and ii) resistor and switches. The outputs from multiple PEs (108) in a column are connected together to produce one analog MAC output (116). In the similar manner, the system produces 16 MAC outputs (118) corresponding to 16 columns. Analog to digital converters (ADC) (104) are used to convert the analog MAC output (116) to digital form (118).

Abstract: Bandwidth for information transfers between devices is dynamically changed to accommodate transitions between power modes employed in a system. The bandwidth is changed by selectively enabling and disabling individual control links and data links that carry the information. During a highest bandwidth mode for the system, all of the data and control links are enabled to provide maximum information throughout. During one or more lower bandwidth modes for the system, at least one data link and/or at least one control link is disabled to reduce the power consumption of the devices. At least one data link and at least one control link remain enabled during each low bandwidth mode. For these links, the same signaling rate is used for both bandwidth modes to reduce latency that would otherwise be caused by changing signaling rates. Also, calibration information is generated for disabled links so that these links may be quickly brought back into service.

Abstract: A device for monitoring respiration by a user determines whether sound represented by audio data corresponds to an exhalation. For example, the device receives audio data representing sound, determines a frequency spectrum for the audio data (e.g., amplitude distributions of one or more frequencies, etc.), and identifies various frequency bands of interest. Here, the device identifies a first frequency band corresponding to respiration, a second frequency band corresponding to noise, and a third frequency band corresponding to voice harmonics. The device applies a gain to the first frequency band to create an amplified first frequency band, filters or nulls the second frequency band, and inverts the third frequency band to create an inverted third frequency band. The device determines the frequency spectrum corresponds to an exhalation based on a slope value over the amplitude distributions of the amplified first frequency band and the inverted third frequency band.

The eye tracking device further includes an image processor adapted to defocus the eye image in order to generate a defocused eye image. The defocused eye image comprises reduced iris authentication accuracy. The eye tracking device further includes a tracking processor configured to detect a pupil in the defocused eye image and determine a gaze direction of the user based at least in part on one or more of the defocused eye image and the pupil.

Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to capturing physiological data from a sensor configured in a user's wearable device while the user performs a task, individualizing the physiological data to the user based on comparison with historical user physiological data, measuring the user's cognitive function determined in relationship to the individual's physiological data, and automatically notifying the user of cognitive fatigue and performance detected based on evaluating the measured cognitive function over time. In an illustrative example, the wearable device maybe a gaming headset. The measured cognitive function may be, for example, determined as a function of electroencephalograph or heart rate variability data captured from a user while the user performs a task. Some examples may provide recovery recommendations based on the detected cognitive fatigue.

Abstract: A system for utilizing wearable, wireless-connected sensors that record both IMU and EMG muscle activity for rehabilitation with kinematic monitoring is disclosed. The system runs an efficient quaternion-based complementary filter that estimates the sensor orientation while correcting for estimate drift and constraining magnetometer estimates to only influence heading. The difference in the two sensor orientations is used to estimate the joint angle, which can be further improved with joint axis estimation. Thus, successful tracking of joint angle and muscle activity in a home environment can be accomplished with the sensors and a smartphone. Further, a system utilizing these sensors may include video-capable cameras configured for capturing a video of a pose of the user, and a game framework executable by a processor in communication with the sensors and the cameras.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for predicting a state of a user (e.g., asleep or awake). In some embodiments, the location sharing system accesses historical activity data of the user and extracts historical sleep records from the historical activity data. The system clusters the historical sleep records into a plurality of clusters and extracts a sleep pattern from each one of the plurality of clusters. Then, when the location sharing system receives current activity data of the user, the system can predict whether the user is currently asleep based on the current activity of the user and at least one of the sleep patterns. Some embodiments additionally compute an estimated wake up time of the user. Some embodiments share the predicted physiological state of the user with the user's friends via the map GUI. Some embodiments additionally share the estimated wake up time of the user.

The gesture detector signals the controller to control the operations of the high voltage generator upon detecting one or more gestures of the user using the body part attached with the wearable self-defense apparatus. Upon receiving the signal from the gesture detector, the controller triggers the high voltage generator to generate high voltage electricity. The high voltage electricity thus generated is transmitted to a target using the high voltage transmitter for temporarily disabling the target.
