  • Patent number: 10889795
Abstract: Discharging pretreated biomass from a pretreatment reactor and mixing the discharged pretreated biomass with a cooling liquid in a vessel provides a cooled slurry having a consistency that is less than about 12 wt %. Since the consistency is relatively low, the cooled slurry may be pumped to a higher elevation using standard pumping equipment. At the higher elevation, the cooled slurry may be separated into a first stream comprising a liquid component of the slurry and a second other stream comprising a solid component of the slurry (e.g., having a consistency between about 15 wt % and 40 about wt %). The solid component may be fed to an inlet of a hydrolysis reactor, while the liquid component may be fed to a cooling system that provides a cooled stream. The cooled stream may then be cycled back to the vessel.

  • Patent number: 10889815
Abstract: The present invention concerns methods and reagents useful in modulating gene expression in a variety of applications, including use in therapeutic, diagnostic, target validation, and genomic discovery applications. Specifically, the invention relates to synthetic chemically modified small nucleic acid molecules, such as short interfering nucleic acid (siNA), short interfering RNA (siRNA), double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), micro-RNA (miRNA), and short hairpin RNA (shRNA) molecules capable of mediating RNA interference (RNAi) against target nucleic acid sequences. The small nucleic acid molecules are useful in the treatment of any disease or condition that responds to modulation of gene expression or activity in a cell, tissue, or organism.

  • Patent number: 10889817
Abstract: Antisense oligonucleotides target the mutation in intron 26 of the CEP290 gene and reduce inclusion of the aberrant exon into the CEP290 mRNA. The oligonucleotides include no more than 3 consecutive guanosines, have no more than 60% guanosine nucleobases, include at most one CpG sequence, and/or do not have the potential to form a hairpin comprising 3 or more consecutive complementary base pairs.

  • Patent number: 10889818
Abstract: In accordance with the invention, a novel gene translocation, (4p15, 6q22), in human non-small cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) that results in a fusion proteins combining part of Sodium-dependent Phosphate Transporter Isoform NaPi-3b protein (SLC34A2) with Proto-oncogene Tyrosine Protein Kinase ROS Precursor (ROS) kinase has now been identified. The SLC34A2-ROS fusion protein is anticipated to drive the proliferation and survival of a subgroup of NSCLC tumors. The invention therefore provides, in part, isolated polynucleotides and vectors encoding the disclosed mutant ROS kinase polypeptides, probes for detecting it, isolated mutant polypeptides, recombinant polypeptides, and reagents for detecting the fusion and truncated polypeptides.

  • Patent number: 10889819
Abstract: The present invention relates to a visceral adipose tissue macrophage-targeted non-viral gene/carrier complex for preventing and treating obesity-induced type II diabetes. More specifically, the gene/carrier complex according to the present invention delivers a therapeutic gene in a stable manner in a case of being injected into the body with the visceral adipose tissue macrophages being targeted, and thus exhibits an excellent inhibitory effect against TACE, which allows the gene/carrier complex to be applied for prevention or treatment of obesity-induced type II diabetes.
