    Abstract: Methods and systems are described for efficient medium access in wake-up radios. In an exemplary embodiment, a wake up frame (WUF) includes fields indicating a wake-up purpose, wake-up scheduling, and a wake-up TX/RX parameter. The wake-up purpose field identifies one of a plurality of predetermined purposes. A STA receives the wake-up frame and determines whether the frame is intended for that STA. If so, the STA responsively performs an action in accordance with the purpose indicated in the purpose field. Purposes that may be indicated in the WIF purpose field may include Listen to Beacon, Uplink Data Transmission, Downlink Data Transmission, and (Re)Association, among others.

The processor (302) suspends (704) a protocol data unit session deactivation procedure and triggering core network paging in response to receiving the indication of RAN paging failure. In response to the core network paging failing, the processor (302) resumes (706) the protocol data unit session deactivation procedure. In response to the core network paging succeeding, the transmitter (310) transmits (708) an access network context establishment request to a target RAN. In response to receiving an access network context establishment response from the target RAN, the transmitter (310) transmits (710) a protocol data unit session modification request.

A user equipment (UE) may measure the reference signal received power (RSRP) of reference signals from other UEs in a time window and exclude resources of transmissions with a measurement which is above RSRP threshold. In some cases, not enough resources are identified, and the UE may increase the RSRP and search for resources again, however the UE may only increase the RSRP until a stop RSRP limit is reached. The UE may increase the RSRP based on an absolute value or a factor of an incremental power value. Once the stop RSRP threshold is reached, the UE may modify the size of the time window, shift the time window, or reduce the number of retransmission of the sidelink message to search for resources for the sidelink message.

At least two categories may be defined for the resources, and the UE may use various criteria for categorizing the resources in a system. Resources in the “occupied” category may be indicated as occupied by another UE's sidelink channel information.
