Abstract: A method is provided for dynamic ingestion of data. The method includes detecting presence of data sets in an input queue, each data set belonging to a group. The method additionally includes fetching the data sets from each group utilizing a parallel computation engine including multiple partitioned processors, wherein each group is assigned to a partition of one of the multiple partitioned processors for processing. The method further includes processing the data sets for each group utilizing a group level process of the multiple partitioned processors to obtain resultant data sets and transmitting the resultant data sets for each group to a business logic processor pool in order to process the data sets in accordance with existing rules in order to generate a final data set.

Abstract: Techniques are described for performing a time series analysis using a clustering based symbolic representation. Implementations employ a clustering based symbolic representation applied to time series data. In some implementations, the time series data is discretized into subsequences with regular time intervals, and symbols encoding the time intervals may be derived by performing clustering algorithms on the subsequences. In the new representation, a time series is transformed into a sequence of categorical values. The symbolic representation is suitable to perform time series classification and forecast with higher accuracy and greater efficiency compared to previously used techniques. Through use of the symbolic representation, a dimension reduction is applied to transform the time sequences to a feature space with lower dimensions. As output of such transformation, a new representation is obtained based on the original time series.

Abstract: The invention relates to database abstraction and data linkage. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the invention takes a variety of attributes (e.g., names, IP address, device identifiers, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, etc.) and returns the online activity, demographic data, account data and/or other activity, events and data associated with that attribute. The tool may then iterate over each attribute and return a network of connections having multiple degrees of association. The innovative tool may be linked to known bad actor data, and perform automated searches on this data to proactively alert potentially fraudulent activity. The tool may also be developed to add attributes and apply machine learning to the associations to more intelligently describe the returned network. Further, the tool may be developed to describe larger networks having multiple degrees of connections.

Abstract: The scalable high-level fusion of structured and unstructured data includes ingesting and processing unstructured data to produce a statistical model stored as extracted entities then mapped to a collection of resource description framework (RDF) triples, and applying a semantic analysis to a set of structured data to produce a logical model stored as a collection of triples. Reasoners are applied to both models generating an extended knowledge graph of both base and inferred knowledge that is decomposed into a wide table database, with each row storing a corresponding triple, and a reasoner converting the RDF triples into associated triples by adding a new column to the database in response to detecting a new predicate for a subject already present in one of the rows of the database so that the new predicate is stored in the new column in a new row created for the subject already present.

Abstract: A system for element tracking in documents includes a memory device, a database, and a processor. The memory device is configured to store a mapping in a memory between a linked element within a document and a database object. The database is configured to store the database object. The processor is configured to in response to an update of the database object: a) cause storage in the database of an update event associated with the linked element; and b) provide an update indication that the update associated with the linked element has occurred.

Abstract: A system and method for matching students to tutors is disclosed. In particular, a user submits a query and in response a plurality of tutors are identified responsive to the search query. The identified tutors are then ranked based on relevance to the search query. The identified tutors are then presented to the user in an order based on the relevance score assigned to each tutor.

Abstract: In particular embodiments, a data processing data inventory generation system is configured to: (1) generate a data model (e.g., a data inventory) for one or more data assets utilized by a particular organization; (2) generate a respective data inventory for each of the one or more data assets; and (3) map one or more relationships between one or more aspects of the data inventory, the one or more data assets, etc. within the data model. Abstract: A cloud storage system provides remote access to a file associated with the cloud storage system. In response to a request to access the file, the cloud storage system identifies applications available to the request generator and capable of accessing the file, which may include both online web-based applications and applications installed on a device with which the user is accessing the file. The cloud storage system determines an application type of an identified application, and provides file access to the identified application based on the application type.

Abstract: DIY (Do-It-Yourself) is challenging for many novices, requiring extensive knowledge such as the usage of particular tools and the properties of the required materials. Many DIYers use web searches to find relevant information and instructions, but web search is time-consuming and the results often do not fit the DIYers' specific needs. To address these problems, we present a Question Answering (QA) system that can assist DIYers through the whole cycle of a DIY project. Given a natural language question about a DIY project, the QA system described herein provides an answer along with the explanations that are tailored to the DIYers' specific needs.

Abstract: In an information recording system, a sound processing unit generates a conversion candidate word in a process of converting sound information into text information. A recording unit records the text information and the conversion candidate word on a recording medium such that the text information and the conversion candidate word are associated with each other. A search unit performs a search based on a keyword and extracts a word matching the keyword from words within the text information and the conversion candidate word. A reading unit reads the text information including the word matching the keyword from the recording medium. A display unit displays the text information such that a part corresponding to the word matching the keyword and a part other than the corresponding part are able to be distinguished.

Abstract: Clustering a set of natural language queries NLQs based on a set of significant events retrieved from a corpus stored in a computer system is described. A set of NLQs is used by a search engine for searching a selected corpus to retrieve respective sets of significant events. The set of NLQs is clustered into a plurality of NLQ clusters according to a number of common significant events being returned by the search engine for respective members of an NLQ cluster.

Abstract: In response to a predetermined user operation on a client terminal, a display unit displays a data manager window. Analysis files, which satisfy narrowing conditions among analysis data files registered in a database, are displayed in the window's data file list. The user selects a plurality of files for which a final result record should be created, and selects and indicates a “Create report set” in an operation menu. Then, the selected analysis data files, an analysis report file, and audit trail report file associated with those analysis data files are read from the database and sent to the client terminal. On the client terminal, a data list which shows file names and other information on the analysis data files is created. A final result record report is created, including the data list, descriptions in the audit trail report, descriptions in the analysis report and other relevant information.

Abstract: Data analytics systems and methods are disclosed herein. A parser can parse reference data from various data sources to store in a data structure. An uploader can receive study data designated by a researcher and store the study data in the data structure. A matcher can compare analyte nameset data in the study data with analyte nameset data from the reference data to generate one or more links each correlating an instance of an analyte in the study data with an instance of that analyte in the reference data. Library overlays each include one or more modules to access reference data to generate organized associations of reference data. A calculation engine can receive a selection of one or more library overlay(s) and manipulate the reference data and study data according to the organized associations of the selected library overlay(s) to generate configured data stored in a collection of data caches for presentation to a researcher via a user interface.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and media for lot classification are disclosed. In one example, a classification system for identifying lot listings receives a description for a listing in a publication system, identifies a string in the listing, identifies a quantity word or digit in the string, and converts an identified quantity word into digit form. A normalized string is tokenized to produce tokens, the tokenizing of the normalized string including splitting the normalized string into a series of substrings using a sequence of delimiters. For each substring, an additional split is performed by separating any digit from any other adjacent character, unless that character is another digit, and maintaining an internal character order of each split substring to produce a flattened list of tokenized tokens.

Abstract: Content controller system comprising rendering server system comprising a plurality of servers. The servers receiving a plurality of segment render requests that correspond respectively to segments included in a set of media content item segments. The servers render the segments corresponding to the segment render requests using a media content identification and a main user identification. Rendering the segments comprises retrieving metadata from a metadata database associated with the media content identification, rendering the segments using the metadata, generating a main user avatar based on the main user identification, and incorporating the main user avatar into the segments. The servers can upload the segments to a segment database and update segment states in a segment state database to indicate that the segments are available. Other embodiments are disclosed herein.

Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatus, and systems are disclosed for capturing, organizing, sharing, and/or displaying media. For example, using embodiments of the disclosed technology, a unified playback and browsing experience for a collection of media can be created automatically. For instance, heuristics and metadata can be used to assemble and add narratives to the media data. Furthermore, this representation of media can recompose itself dynamically as more media is added to the collection. While a collection may use a single user's content, sometimes media that is desirable to include in the collection is captured by friends and/or others at the same event. In certain embodiments, media content related to the event can be automatically collected and shared among selected groups. Further, in some embodiments, new media can be automatically incorporated into a media collection associated with the event, and the playback experience dynamically updated.

Abstract: The overall architecture and details of a scalable video fingerprinting and identification system that is robust with respect to many classes of video distortions is described. In this system, a fingerprint for a piece of multimedia content is composed of a number of compact signatures, along with traversal hash signatures and associated metadata. Numerical descriptors are generated for features found in a multimedia clip, signatures are generated from these descriptors, and a reference signature database is constructed from these signatures. Query signatures are also generated for a query multimedia clip. These query signatures are searched against the reference database using a fast similarity search procedure, to produce a candidate list of matching signatures. This candidate list is further analyzed to find the most likely reference matches. Signature correlation is performed between the likely reference matches and the query clip to improve detection accuracy.

Abstract: Migrating and delivering data content to a traveling user is provided. A pattern of data access corresponding to a user is determined. The pattern of data access includes previous data access requests made by the user and data to-be delivered to the user. A travel plan corresponding to the user is determined. The travel plan includes a set of intermediate data delivery destinations based on travel mode, travel route, travel schedule, and geographic locations of stops corresponding to the set of intermediate data delivery destinations. The data content is migrated to a set of data storage locations as the user travels based on the pattern of data access, the travel plan, and the set of intermediate data delivery destinations along the travel route. The data content is delivered to the user at geographic locations corresponding to the set of data storage locations as the user travels.

Abstract: Various methods and systems for providing batch search interfaces that support operations for dynamically generating batch search queries, executing batch search queries, and causing display of batch search query result items are provided. In operation, a batch search query interface for inputting images is generated. An image is received. A first feature and a second feature of the image are detected from the image. A first tag for the first feature and a second tag for the second feature are displayed on the batch search query interface. The tags refer to attributes associated with different features of the image. A batch search query based on the first and second tag is communicated to cause execution of the batch search query to generate search results. A first and second plurality of results associated with the respective tags are simultaneously displayed using feature-tag-specific results display portions of the batch search results interface.

Abstract: In implementations of determining user segmentation based on a photo library, a device maintains digital images in the photo library, as well as metadata associated with the digital images. The device includes a segmentation module implemented to determine characteristics about a user of the device by analysis of the metadata of the digital images. The segmentation module can determine a segmentation based on the characteristics determined about the user. The segmentation includes one or more segments that each represent a generalized aspect of the user, where a generalized aspect is attributable to multiple people and anonymity of the user is maintained. The segmentation module can associate an anonymous identifier with the segmentation effective to maintain the anonymity of the user and privacy of the metadata. The segmentation and the anonymous identifier can then be communicated to a marketing system that generates personalized marketing messages based on the segmentation.

At least one database includes electronic organism profile information representing at least one respective physical characteristic associated with a plurality of respective organisms, at least one respective corresponding attribute of the respective organisms, and an identity of at least one of the plurality of organisms, as well as owner information representing at least one person respectively associated with at least one of the organisms. Profile information that includes information representing physical characteristic(s) associated with the first organism associated with a first organism is received. In accordance with at least some electronic organism profile information and at least some of the first electronic profile information, an identity is identified.

Abstract: Among images contained in information on a posted specific recipe, a predetermined number of the images that are equal to or greater than two are selected as procedure images based on a difference in images. The procedure images concerns a procedure of the specific recipe. Next, procedure outline content, which concerns the procedure of the specific recipe, is generated using the predetermined number of the procedure images. Further, information that contains the procedure outline content is presented as a search result of a search for a recipe.

Abstract: A computer vision neural network system is provided. The computer vision neural network system includes a computer with a multi-attribute loss module that concatenates first and second normalized feature vector descriptors to generate a master feature vector descriptor that describes attributes and classes of a facial image. The multi-attribute loss module estimates an error distance between the master feature vector descriptor and a plurality of class center vector descriptors. Each class center vector descriptor is a mean of a plurality of master feature vector descriptors associated with a soft-biometric class in a plurality of faces in a plurality of facial images.

Abstract: Methods for identifying visual portions of visual media files that are responsive to at least one visual media input file submitted as a search query are provided. In one aspect, a method includes generating an index of visual portions of a plurality of visual media files from a collection of media files, and receiving from a user a search query, for the collection, including at least one visual media input file. The method also includes analyzing the index to identify at least one responsive visual media file from the collection that includes a visual portion associated with a visual similarity score, to the at least one visual media input file, which exceeds a similarity threshold value, and providing, in response to the search query, an identifier of the at least one responsive visual media file for display as responsive to the search query. Systems and machine-readable media are also provided.

Abstract: Descriptive data relating to at least a subset of a plurality of entities on a website is retrieved over a network. Endorsement data relating to the plurality of entities is retrieved from the website. A first set of probabilities is determined reflecting a probability that endorsements can be attributed to specific aspects. A second set of probabilities is determined reflecting a probability that terms can be attributed to aspects. Using the first set of probabilities and the second set of probabilities, a subset of the terms that are most probably associated with each entity are selected. Tags are then generated for each entity using the selected terms.

Abstract: Provided is a method of classifying, into an album, one or more image files stored in a terminal with a screen to which a touch screen is applied. Album/folder information included in the terminal is confirmed. An image file stored in the terminal is displayed on the screen of the terminal. It is determined whether a predetermined specific gesture is input with respect to the image file. When the specific gesture is input, it is determined whether the album/folder information is stored. When it is determined that the album/folder information is not stored, album/folder information is recommended. Both or one of the recommended album/folder information and the stored album/folder information is displayed on the screen of the terminal. It is determined to which album/folder information a drag is made among the album/folder information displayed on the screen of the terminal. The image file is moved to an album/folder corresponding to the album/folder information to which the drag has been made.

Abstract: Improved systems and devices for medical imaging distribution are provided. A medical imaging order may be received from a medical facility that includes medical imaging. A configuration may be selected and applied based on a body site and an urgency field associated with the order that defines queueing rules for the medical imaging order. Utilization factors for queues associated with radiologists may also be determined. The configuration and the utilization factors may be used to determine a subset of queues associated with a subset of radiologists. The subset of queues may be prioritized based on certain requirements, such as how many medical imaging reports a particular radiologist is required to review, how many medical imaging reports are required to be allocated to a particular radiologist, and the like. The highest prioritized queue may be selected and the medical imaging order may be transmitted to the radiologist associated with that queue.

Abstract: Embodiments described herein may involve queue versioning. An example implementation may involve a playback device initiating playback of a queue including one or more first audio streams. A queue identification token stored in data storage represents a current version of the queue. The playback device receives, from a computing system, data representing instructions to add one or more second audio streams to the queue, the instructions including an indication of the one or more second audio streams and a first token representing an expected queue version. The playback device determines whether the expected queue version represented by the first token matches the current version of the queue represented by the queue identification token. If not, the playback device foregoes adding the one or more second audio streams to the queue.

Abstract: A web page optimization engine for optimizing a web page is described. The web page optimization engine includes a keyword mapping engine configured to generate a keyword map including a listing of keywords, where each keyword is associated with one or more web pages. The web page optimization engine further includes a map reversal engine configured to generate a web page map including a listing of web page subject matters, where each web page subject matter is associated with one or more keywords based on the associations from the keyword map. The web page optimization engine yet further includes a web page generation engine configured to generate a web page for a web page subject matter in the web page map to include at least one of the one or more keywords for that web page subject matter.

Abstract: A method for generating a preview associated with a media file is provided. The method may include receiving a plurality of social comments associated with a plurality of frames corresponding to the media file. The method may also include storing the received plurality of social comments in a repository, whereby the received plurality of social comments is stored with a frame marker. The method may further include analyzing the stored plurality of social comments. The method may additionally include classifying the analyzed plurality of social comments according to at least one sentiment and at least one keyword in the media file.

Abstract: First data of a hierarchical data structure is accessed. A directed graph is generated based on the first data. Generating the directed graph includes creating multiple nodes representing the first data and linking first nodes representing data at a particular level of the hierarchical data structure to second nodes representing data at a lower level of the hierarchical data structure. A query requesting information from the hierarchical data structure is received. A particular node, that is a starting point for searching the directed graph based on the query, is identified within the directed graph. Out-links, that link the particular node to other nodes of the directed graph, are identified. Each of the other nodes, that is connected to the particular node by the out-links, is inspected to determine which of the other nodes represents responsive data matching the query. The query is responded with the responsive data.

Abstract: Generally described, one or more aspects of the present application relate to data search system that can facilitate data searches such that the amount of computing resources such as processing power and bandwidth used to generate and output search results is reduced. For example, in response to a search request specifying a set of search criteria, the data search system may identify a combination of sub-criteria, access a pre-generated threshold corresponding to the combination of sub-criteria, determine a real-time index value corresponding to the combination of sub-criteria, identify a plurality of resources that satisfy the set of search criteria, and output a subset of the plurality of resources to the user computing device from which the search request was received.

Abstract: Described is using flash memory (or other secondary storage), RAM-based data structures and mechanisms to access key-value pairs stored in the flash memory using only a low RAM space footprint. A mapping (e.g. hash) function maps key-value pairs to a slot in a RAM-based index. The slot includes a pointer that points to a bucket of records on flash memory that each had keys that mapped to the slot. The bucket of records is arranged as a linear-chained linked list, e.g., with pointers from the most-recently written record to the earliest written record. Also described are compacting non-contiguous records of a bucket onto a single flash page, and garbage collection. Still further described is load balancing to reduce variation in bucket sizes, using a bloom filter per slot to avoid unnecessary searching, and splitting a slot into sub-slots.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for clustering data to improve data analytics may include (1) extracting a social graph from a data set of messages, the social graph indicating messages as edges such that nodes of the edges indicate corresponding senders and recipients in sender-recipient relationships, (2) detecting communities of collaborators by identifying clusters of nodes within the social graph, (3) applying the identified clusters of nodes within the social graph to a grouping calculation to group the messages of the data set into groups of messages, and (4) providing, through a computing interface, results of a data analytics operation to an end user based at least in part on applying the identified clusters of nodes within the social graph to the grouping calculation. Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for a system to provide an interface that is dynamic and that provides selectable links in response to a query for products in an electronic marketplace, where the selectable links are titled with the query and portions of reviews for products associated with the query. The system is configured to select feedback for items purchased from an electronic marketplace. Descriptors from the feedback are generated. In response to a query for the one or more of the items in the electronic marketplace, a determination is made that portions of the descriptors provide detail responsive to the query. An interface is displayed including selectable links titled with the query in combination with the portions of the descriptors. In response to selection of one of the selectable links, a portion of the items are displayed.

Abstract: A system is disclosed, comprising data storage and one or more computing devices. The data storage stores a plurality of records, each record comprising a plurality of values, each value being associated with an attribute from a plurality of attributes, and each record representing a classification rule that is satisfied if and only if each value of the plurality of values is matched by a value in a candidate query. The computing devices comprise one or more processors and non-transitory memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause processors to: provide a graphical user interface (GUI) to enable setting a first ordering of the plurality of attributes, receive a candidate query; and based on the ordering of the plurality of attributes, automatically determine and output a best match among a set of all classification rules that are satisfied by the candidate query.

Abstract: An approach is provided that receives a question at a question-answering (QA) system. The received question includes one or more terms, and the question pertains to a subject matter domain that is supported by the QA system. Analyzing a number of expressions included in a set of question-answer pairs (QA pairs), with the QA pairs being ground-truths established to in support of the subject matter domain. The analysis identifies whether a selected term from the question is a synonym for any of the expressions. The expressions that are identified as synonyms are then used in a QA pipeline that generates one or more candidate answers to the received question.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on a computer storage medium, for adjusting search results based on device specific utilities. In one aspect, a method includes determining whether a set of search results are ineligible for an adjustment operation based a query being a navigational query. For each query for which the search results are determined to be eligible for an adjustment operation based on a determination that the query is not a navigational query, the search results are adjusted so that the search results referencing resources in a first proper subset are boosted relative to the search results referencing resources in a second proper subset.

Abstract: A method and system for search exploration in a mobile application environment as well as a desktop environment is provided. The method and system utilize at least one computer processor to perform the steps of selecting a virtual object on a display interface via an indicator positioned within and associated with the virtual object. The computer processor provides dragging the indicator out of a home area and displaying at least one related property associated with the virtual object on the display while dragging outside of the home area. The computer processor provides dragging the indicator onto one or more of the at least one related property associated with the virtual object and a pausing of the indicator over at least one related property causes the computer processor to select the related property as a search parameter of a search query. Dropping the dragged indicator initiates a search based on said search query and the search is initiated based on the search query as a result of said dropping.

Abstract: A controller, for use in a storage device of a data processing system, includes a host interface, a memory interface and one or more processors. The host interface is configured to communicate over a computer network with one or more remote hosts of a data processing system. The memory interface is configured to communicate locally with a non-volatile memory of the storage device. The one or more processors are configured to manage local storage or retrieval of media objects at the non-volatile memory, and to selectively compute metadata that defines content characteristics of media objects that are stored, or that are to be stored, in the non-volatile memory.

The systems and methods describe processing ESI in preparation for, or association with, litigation. Abstract: A trouble information search method includes, storing information on a circuit component, information on a use state of the circuit component, and trouble information on the circuit component, receiving input of information on a circuit component and information on a use state of the circuit component, identifying information on a trouble that has occurred with a circuit component having detailed information similar to detailed information on the circuit component and a circuit component for use in a state similar to a use state of the circuit component, and outputting information on the identified trouble.

Abstract: A new approach is proposed that contemplates systems and methods to examine and determine quality of objects cited by citations in a search result based on a citation graph that includes citing subjects, citations, and cited objects. First, influence scores of a plurality of subjects/sources that compose the citations of the objects in the search result are calculated. The quality of the objects cited by the subjects can then be determined by examining the influence scores for the subjects of the citations. Finally, the cited objects selected can be presented to a user or provided to a thirty party for further processing together with the relevant citations and citing subjects.

Abstract: Categorical data transformation and clustering techniques and systems are described for machine learning. These techniques and systems are configured to improve operation of a computing device to support efficient and accurate use of categorical data, which is not possible using conventional techniques. In an example, categorical data is received by a computing device that includes a categorical variable having a non-numerical data type for a number of classes. The categorical data is then converted into numerical data based on clustering used to generate a plurality of latent classes.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for providing guided search results to items or network pages containing buying guides. A plurality of search terms in a search query are identified. It is then determined that at least one network page is a relevant search result for the search query based at least in part on the plurality of search terms in the search query, the network page including a plurality of items and a plurality of instances of user-submitted content related to each of the plurality of items. The network page is then added to a list of search results for the search query. The search results are then returned in response to the search query.

Abstract: Systems and methods of providing information via a computer network are provided. A data processing system can identify a cluster that includes a plurality of online content items having a semantic or user similarity. The data processing system determines a plurality of cluster placement criteria of the cluster, and receives content configured for display with a web page. The content can be associated with the cluster based on the semantic or user similarity. A cluster placement criterion of the plurality of cluster placement criteria can be selected based on a quality metric of the selected cluster placement criterion, and the selected cluster placement criterion can be provided as a supplemental criterion used to select the content for display with the web page.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to methods of and systems for ranking results returned by a search engine. A method in accordance with the invention comprises determining a formula having variables and parameters, wherein the formula is for computing a relevance score for a document and a search query; and ranking the document based on the relevance score. Preferably, determining the formula comprises tuning the parameters based on user input. Preferably, the parameters are determined using a machine learning technique, such as one that includes a form of statistical classification.
