  • Patent number: 11166591
Abstract: Automatic process for calibrating the single and double dose of ground and dispensed coffee by means of a specific grinder-doser integrating a weighing device with a load cell. The process is automatically and steadily carried out during the ordinary activity, with no interruptions, adapting the grinding time according to the actually detected grammages, in order to get closer as much as possible to the desired grammage in any use condition. The process, after a preliminary phase for temporary configuring the desired grammages and the grinding time, conceives self-calibration cycles continuously repeated, each of them comprising three sequential phases: a first phase for automatically checking the dispensing with progressive weight detections, a second phase for automatically processing the detected data for determining the correct grinding time, a following third phase for the automatic setting.

  • Patent number: 11166630
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for optical coherence metrology or tomography across an extended area of an eye with improved registration. At least two optical coherence tomograms are acquired, with each tomogram containing data from regions of an anterior surface of the eye that are at least partially overlapping, and data from one or more deeper structures such as the retina or the anterior or posterior lens surfaces. The tomograms are then processed to register the data from the overlapping portions of the anterior surface regions, thereby registering the data from the deeper structures. In certain embodiments the reference arm of the apparatus comprises a compound reflector having at least two axially separated reflective surfaces for applying differential delays to different portions of the reference beam. The depth of field of the apparatus is thereby extended to enable measurement of eye length.

  • Patent number: 11166632
Abstract: A neuromodulator accurately measures—in real time and over a range of frequencies—the instantaneous phase and amplitude of a natural signal. For example, the natural signal may be an electrical signal produced by neural tissue, or a motion such as a muscle tremor. The neuromodulator generates signals that are precisely timed relative to the phase of the natural signal. For example, the neuromodulator may generate an exogenous signal that is phase-locked with the natural signal. Or, for example, the neuromodulator may generate an exogenous signal that comprises short bursts which occur only during a narrow phase range of each period of an oscillating natural signal. The neuromodulator corrects distortions due to Gibbs phenomenon. In some cases, the neuromodulator does so by applying a causal filter to a discrete Fourier transform in the frequency domain, prior to taking an inverse discrete Fourier transform.

Abstract: A system for monitoring the state of health of a patient suffering from respiratory disease including a portable medical device, the device including: a) a flow measurement device performing a spirometry measurement, and b) a reflecting photometric sensor performing an oxygen measurement or a measurement of blood oxygen saturation and heart rate. The system includes storage and comparison units in which a personalised plan of action for the patient is stored against which the spirometry and/or oxygen measurement data found are compared, displaying the result of such comparison on the display of a device connected to the internet so as to define the patient's state of health and identify exacerbation of the disease on the basis of data obtained from both such spirometry and oxygen measurements. A method for monitoring the health of a patient suffering from respiratory disease implemented through the system indicated above is also claimed.

Abstract: A glucose monitoring system can make use of electrocardiograph (ECG) data and bioimpedance data acquired from a wearable device. The ECG data and bioimpedance data can each be processed to obtain a glucose level. These values can be processed together to obtain an adapted glucose value. In some cases, photoplethysmography data can also be used to assist in processing of the ECG data. The various types of data can be acquired from sensors on a wearable device. The wearable device can be removably coupled to a user's skin, such as via an adhesive substrate. In some cases, the wearable device can include a reusable electronics module that couples to replaceable electrodes on a replaceable adhesive substrate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus to non-invasively measure instantaneous blood pressure using pulse wave velocity are disclosed. A measurement component is affixed to a patient proximate to a blood vessel. One or more sensors, such as an ultrasound sensor, is included in the measurement component. The measurement component substantially simultaneously measures the pulse wave velocity of the vessel and the instantaneous blood velocity within the vessel. The measurement component computes the instantaneous blood pressure of the vessel using, for example, the water hammer equation. The one or more sensors may be contained in a disposable patch or collocated with another sensor, such as a patient-monitor sensor, or the like.
