  • Patent number: RE48855
Abstract: A production process of acetic acid according to the present invention inhibits concentration of hydrogen iodide and improves a liquid-liquid separation of an overhead from a distillation column. Acetic acid is produced by distilling a mixture containing hydrogen iodide, water, acetic acid and methyl acetate in a first distillation column (3) to form an overhead and a side cut stream or bottom stream containing acetic acid, cooling and condensing the overhead in a condenser (C3) to form separated upper and lower phases in a decanter (4). According to this process, a zone having a high water concentration is formed in the distillation column above the feed position of the mixture by feeding a mixture having a water concentration of not less than an effective amount to not more than 5% by weight (e.g., 0.5 to 4.5% by weight) and a methyl acetate concentration of 0.5 to 9% by weight (e.g., 0.5 to 8% by weight) as the mixture to the distillation column and distilling the mixture.

  • Patent number: RE48856
Abstract: The application relates to the field of cancer, particularly to the field of solid tumors. It was found that a particular long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), NEAT1, an essential architectural component of nuclear paraspeckles, is required for the survival of cancer, but not that of normal, non-transformed, cells. Inhibition of NEAT1 reduces cell viability of cancer cells and induces apoptosis. These data identify NEAT1 as a novel therapeutic target for treatment of solid tumors.

  • Patent number: RE48860
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for estimating and assigning agent performance characteristics in a call routing center. Performance characteristics (e.g., sales rate, customer satisfaction, duration of call, etc.) may be assigned to an agent when the agent has made few calls relative to other agents or otherwise has a large error in their measure of one or more performance characteristics used for matching callers to agents (e.g., via a performance based or pattern matching routing method). A method includes identifying agents of a plurality of agents having a number of calls fewer than a predetermined number of calls (or an error in the performance characteristic exceeding a threshold), assigning a performance characteristic to the identified agents (that is different than the agent's actual performance characteristic), and routing a caller to one of the plurality of agents based on the performance characteristics of the plurality of agents.

  • Patent number: 11202405
Abstract: Weed seeds are destroyed in the chaff from a combine harvester by repeated high speed impacts caused by a rotor which accelerates the discarded seeds in a direction centrifugally away from the rotor onto a stator including stator surfaces around the axis. Thus the discarded seeds rebound back and forth between the rotor and the stator to provide a plurality of impacts. A transfer auger at the rear edge of the combine sieve carries the weed seeds outwardly to respective weed seed destructors driven by the shaft of the transfer auger. The seeds are discharged radially through a discharge opening, where the angle of the discharge around the rotor axis can be changed to direct the seeds towards the guide fins of the tailboard of the chopper, or into the housing of the straw chopper.

Abstract: A fruit picker and branch trimmer comprising a frame or partial frame coupled to a stick, and at least one rotating jaw. The jaw is triggered by blades or pins coming in contact with the stem or branch, or by the fruit itself pushing on the jaw. Simply, the jaw rotates by only pulling on the stick. When a jaw rotates, its non-hinged sharp end presses the stem or branch on an obstacle, hence cutting the stem or branch. When two jaws rotate the stem or branch is cut when the sharp edges of the jaws come together. Another type of jaws has at least one elongated recess, when a stem or branch falls into the elongated recess it will be twisted and broken when the jaw rotates.

  • Patent number: 11202419
Abstract: Soybean plants with one or more non-transgenic human-induced mutations of the phytate transport genes, LPA-3 and LPA-19, and the agglutinin gene, LEC1, are disclosed. Soybean plants and seeds having reduced levels of phytate and/or lectin as a result of such non-transgenic human-induced mutations are provided. Meal prepared from soybean seeds provided herein is useful, for example, as a source of food or feed for poultry, human, swine, or fish, wherein the food or feed has reduced levels of antinutrient factors, including phytate and lectin.

  • Patent number: 11202421
Abstract: The present invention relates to an allele designated alpha-WOLF 8 which confers resistance to at least one Peronospora farinosa f. Sp. spinacea race, wherein the protein encoded by said allele is a CC-NB S-LRR protein that comprises in its amino acid sequence: a) the motif “MAEIGYSVC” (SEQ ID NO: 15) at its N-terminus; and b) the motif “KWMCLR” (SEQ ID NO: 16); and wherein the LRR domain of the protein has in order of increased preference at least 92%, 93%, 94%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, 99%, 100% sequence similarity to SEQ ID NO: 12. When the allele is homozygously present in a spinach plant confers complete resistance to Peronospora farinosa f. Sp. spinacea races pfs:1, pfs:2, pfs:6, pfs:8 and pfs:15, and isolate US1508, and confers intermediate resistance to pfs:5, pfs:10 and pfs:16, and does not confer resistance to pfs:3, pfs:4, pfs:7, pfs:9, pfs:11, pfs:12, pfs:13 and pfs:14.
