  • Patent number: 11260838
Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for predicting a hot spot. One method comprises receiving, by a hot spot prediction system, vehicle characteristics associated with a vehicle and traffic data. Then the hot spot prediction system determines a hot spot and an estimated arrival time at the hot spot based on the vehicle characteristics and the traffic data. Following the determination, an auto brake application system receives the hot spot and the estimated arrival time and determines a safe stop time based on the vehicle characteristics, the hot spot and the estimated arrival time. The auto brake application system then sends a notification to the vehicle based on determining that the vehicle can stop within the safe stop time, and performs an action in response to receiving a confirmation from the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 11260842
Abstract: A park brake system for adjusting a tension in a brake cable that is coupled to a park brake. The park brake system can include a driver that is communicatively coupled to a microcontroller, and an actuator that is rotatably displaceable by operation of the driver. An equalizer assembly can be linearly displaced along the rotating actuator to adjust a tension in the brake cable. The microcontroller can monitor a current being drawn by the driver as the driver is operated, and generate instructions to cease operation of the driver upon the current reaching a predetermined current threshold that corresponds a maximum force that is to be applied by the park brake. The microcontroller can also, when the park brake is being released from a set position, count pulses outputted by an encoder in connection with determining whether the park brake has reached a running clearance position.

  • Patent number: 11260844
Abstract: Methods and controllers for coordinating firing fraction transitions that occur in conjunction with transmission shifts are described. In one aspect, an engine controller transmits a do-not-shift instruction to a transmission controller based at least in part on a determination that a particular type of firing fraction transition is desired. The firing fraction transition is then implemented using a skip fire transition protocol. In this manner, the transmission is affirmatively prevented from shifting during the firing fraction transition. The described approaches are well suited for use in connection with transitions to DCCO or DFCO operation.

Abstract: In one embodiment, during a planning stage of autonomous driving of an autonomous driving vehicle (ADV), it is determined that the ADV needs to change lanes from a source lane to a target lane. A first trajectory is generated from a current location of the ADV in the source lane to the target lane such as a center line of the target lane. A lane shifting correction is then calculated based on the lane configuration of at least the source lane and/or target lane, as well as the current state of the ADV. Based on the lane shifting correction, at least the starting point of the first trajectory is modified, which in turn generates a second trajectory. In one embodiment, the starting point of the first trajectory is shifted laterally with respect to a heading direction of the source lane based on the lane shifting correction.
