Abstract: The face mask with temperature display is a filtering face mask with an integrated temperature display for displaying a measured temperature of the wearer. The face mask includes a filtering sheet having opposed front and rear faces, and at least one strap attached to the filtering sheet for securing the filtering sheet over a portion of a wearer's face in a manner similar to that of a conventional filtering face mask. A visual display is secured to the front face of the filtering sheet and a temperature sensor is secured to the rear face of the filtering sheet. The temperature sensor is in communication with the visual display, such that the visual display can display the measured body temperature of the wearer.

Abstract: Methods and systems of monitoring and controlling thermal therapy treatments. One method includes determining, with an electronic processor, a propagation constant for a plurality of waveports. The method also includes modeling an object within an imaging cavity using a sparse mesh model. The method also includes determining a simulated impedance of the object based on the model of the object. The method also includes calibrating the simulated impedance with a theoretical impedance numerically calculated for the object. The method also includes determining a distribution of an electric field and a distribution of a magnetic field for a mode in a conformal modeled waveport based on the calibrated impedance and the model of the object. The method also includes exciting the plurality of waveports to generate the determined distribution of the electric field and the distribution of the magnetic field.

Abstract: A method for medical diagnosis includes recording voice signals due to sounds spoken by a patient and recording acoustic signals output, simultaneously with the voice signals, by an acoustic transducer in contact with a thorax of the patient. A transfer function is computed between the recorded voice signals and the recorded acoustic signals or between the recorded acoustic signals and the recorded voice signals. The computed transfer function is evaluated in order to assess a medical condition of the patient.

Abstract: A method for monitoring health of a subject based on a physiological response to physical exertion, by processing circuitry of a medical device system, is described that includes detecting a plurality of exertion events of the subject based on a first sensed signal that varies as a function of movement of the subject. The method further includes determining a response of a physiological parameter of the subject to the exertion event for each of the detected exertion events based on second sensed signal that varies as a function of the physiological parameter. The method further includes determining that a change in the responses over time crosses threshold and generating an alert to a user based on the determination that the change crosses the threshold.

Abstract: A plurality of electrophysiological signals measured by a respective plurality of electrodes carried by a multi-dimensional catheter can be sorted relative to a direction of interest, such as a cardiac activation wavefront direction. An electroanatomical mapping system can be used to determine the orientation of the multi-dimensional catheter relative to the direction of interest. For example, the user can manually adjust the orientation by manipulating a slider, a wheel, or a similar graphical user interface control. As another example, the user can draw a presumed orientation on a geometric model. Once the orientation is determined, the system can sort the plurality of electrophysiological signals and output a graphical representation of the sorted plurality of electrophysiological signals, for example as a plurality of traces.

Abstract: Disclosed are an array type skin-conformal sensor for heart rate and body temperature measurement, the array type skin-conformal sensor including a base sheet configured to be attached to the skin in tight contact therewith, the base sheet being made of a skin-conformal material, a measurement portion formed at one surface of the base sheet, the measurement portion being deformed by deformation of the skin, whereby resistance of the measurement portion is changed, and an electrode pattern formed at one surface of the base sheet, one end of the electrode pattern being connected to the measurement portion to transmit a change in resistance of the measurement portion, and a heart rate and body temperature measurement apparatus using the same. Since the skin-conformal sensor is attached to the skin in tight contact therewith, it is possible to measure the heart rate even though a blood vessel is deeply located.

Abstract: In one aspect, a photoplethysmograph system to measure a user's heart rate includes one or more light-emitting diodes (LED) that provide a constantly-on light signal during a measurement period. The one or more light-emitting diodes are in optical contact with an epidermal surface of the user. The one or more light-emitting diodes emit a light signal into the tissue of the user, and wherein the tissue contains a pulsating blood flow. A light-intensity sensor circuit converts the reflected LED light from the tissue into a second signal that is proportional to a reflected light intensity. The second signal includes a voltage or current signal. A computer-processing module calculates the user's beat-to-beat heart rate from the second current signal.

Abstract: We describe a system for determining relative changes in at least one parameter of cardiovascular function. The system provides an output showing a relative change of the parameters associated with cardiovascular function over a period of time. This relative change is between a time averaged mean of cardiovascular parameters (for each pulse within a series of pulses from an arterial blood pressure waveform data) and a baseline cardiovascular parameter value based on first and second pulses within the blood pressure waveform data. The relative change of the parameters over time is used to project a trend in the parameters associated with cardiovascular function.
