Patent number: 11599978Abstract: This invention provides a system and method for finding multiple line features in an image. Two related steps are used to identify line features. First, the process computes x and y-components of the gradient field at each image location, projects the gradient field over a plurality subregions, and detects a plurality of gradient extrema, yielding a plurality of edge points with position and gradient. Next, the process iteratively chooses two edge points, fits a model line to them, and if edge point gradients are consistent with the model, computes the full set of inlier points whose position and gradient are consistent with that model. The candidate line with greatest inlier count is retained and the set of remaining outlier points is derived. The process then repeatedly applies the line fitting operation on this and subsequent outlier sets to find a plurality of line results. The process can be exhaustive RANSAC-based.Type: GrantFiled: December 18, 2020Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Cognex CorporationInventors: Yu Feng Hsu, Lowell D. Jacobson, David Y. Li

Patent number: 11599983Abstract: In various examples, a system receives image data characterizing an image of an item. Additionally, the system implements a first set of operations and a second set of operations. In some examples, the first set of operations includes performing a structural similarity analysis of the item, based on the image data, and determining a structural similarity score based on the structural similarity analysis of the item. In other examples, the second set of operations includes generating a plurality of derivative images by applying a plurality of distortions to the image of the item, extracting one or more features based at least on the plurality of derivative images, and determining the quality of the image based at least on the extracted one or more features and the structural similarity score.Type: GrantFiled: October 4, 2021Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Walmart Apollo, LLCInventors: Mani Kanteswara Garlapati, Souradip Chakraborty, Rajesh Shreedhar Bhat

Patent number: 11599985Abstract: An automated analysis instrument operates to detect inadequate dispensation of a fluidic substance on a tray. The instrument includes an image capturing device to capture an image of at least a portion of the tray including a receptacle portion and a surrounding portion around the receptacle portion. The instrument then identifies the surrounding portion of the at least the portion of the tray in the image, evaluates color components of the image corresponding to the surrounding portion of the at least the portion of the tray, and determines whether the fluidic substance is present on the surrounding portion of the at least the portion of the tray based on at least one of the color components.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2021Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Beckman Coulter, Inc.Inventors: Tadashi Haga, Tomohiko Takeuchi

Patent number: 11599986Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting surface anomalies are disclosed. For example, a computer-implemented method for detecting surface anomalies on an object comprises receiving measured electromagnetic radiation (EMR) profiles for the object, generating synthetic EMR profiles for the object based on the measured EMR profiles, determining whether the object contains a surface anomaly based on the measured EMR profiles and the synthetic EMR profiles, and indicating a surface anomaly to a user via a display when a surface anomaly is detected. In another example, a system comprises a computing device comprising non-transitory memory with computer-readable instructions for receiving unpaired image data of an object of two different image types, predicting missing image data to generate paired image data of the two different image types, and determining whether the object contains a surface anomaly based on the paired image data.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2020Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: The Boeing CompanyInventors: Amir Afrasiabi, William David Kelsey

Patent number: 11599988Abstract: A target image of a target circuit board and a gold image of a gold circuit board are taken by an image acquisition system. Fiducial points are located on the target image and on the gold image. Perspective transformation is performed on the target image using the fiducial points on the target image for reference and on the gold image using the fiducial points on the gold image for reference. After perspective transformation, an anomalous section of the target image is identified by identifying pixels that have different intensities between the target image and the gold image, the anomalous section being indicative of an unauthorized modification to the target circuit board.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2020Date of Patent: March 7, 2023Assignee: Super Micro Computer, Inc.Inventors: Bo-Han Wo, Chun-Yi Lin, Yu-Lung Shih, Kai Cheng Wen, Kevin Wei-Chou Chen, Yu-Jung Liang, Pei Hsiang Yang, Jenn-Chih Chou
