If the priority level is at an intermediate level, the destination engine is brought into an active mode when a time, associated with the intermediate level, has elapsed.     Abstract: A transportation management system generates routing guidance from an origin location to a destination location by modifying edge weights in a graph of a geographic location to penalize difficult immediate maneuvers. Responsive to receiving a routing request, the system identifies a position of a provider device in a base map having edges representing road segments and nodes representing intersections between road segments. A sub-graph is generated for the edges in the base graph located up to a threshold distance from the origin location, and the system modifies the weight of one or more edges in the sub-graph corresponding to a difficult immediate maneuver. When applying a routing algorithm to generate the routing guidance, the system uses the edge weights of the generated sub-graph for a first portion of the routing guidance and the original edge weights of the base graph for a second portion of the routing guidance.

    Abstract: A 1.8-times improved light extraction efficiency (LEE) is reported under DC test conditions for truncated cone AlGaN DUV micropixel LEDs when the pixel size was reduced from 90 to 5 µm. This is shown to be a direct consequence of the absorption of the TM-polarized photons travelling in a direction parallel to the device epitaxial layers. Presently disclosed cathodoluminescence measurements show the lateral absorption length for 275 nm DUV photons to be 15 µm, which is ~1000 times shorter than that for waveguiding in the A0.65Ga0.35N cladding layers. Results show the re-absorption of this laterally travelling emission by the multiple quantum wells and the p-contact GaN layer to be a key factor limiting the LEE. Hence, for DUV emitters, scaling down to sub-20 µm device dimensions is critical for maximizing LEE. Presently disclosed sub-20 µm AIGaN-based LEDs do not show pronounced edge recombination effects.

The mirror is fabricated from a Silicon-on-Insulator wafer, having a relatively thick (e.g., 380 um) handle layer, and a relatively thin e.g., 50 um), where photolithography with backside-alignment allows separate patterning of these two layers.

    Abstract: An optical combiner in a display system of a mixed-reality head-mounted display (HMD) device comprises a lens of birefringent material and a ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) modulator that are adapted for use with a reflective waveguide to provide multiple different focal planes on which holograms of virtual-world objects (i.e., virtual images) are displayed. The birefringent lens has two orthogonal refractive indices, ordinary and extraordinary, depending on the polarization state of the incident light. Depending on the rotation of the polarization axis by the FLC modulator, the incoming light to the birefringent lens is focused either at a distance corresponding to the ordinary refractive index or the extraordinary refractive index. Virtual image light leaving the birefringent lens is in-coupled to a see-through reflective waveguide which is configured to form an exit pupil for the optical combiner to enable an HMD device user to view the virtual images from the source.
